When I attended church for Mother’s Day, people would meet women in the parking lots and give out flowers, big signs to welcome moms, and the sermon would be about how mothers and women, are such great and wonderful people. We should respect and honor them more. When Father’s Day rolled around, nothing of the sorts happened and the sermon was “men/dads…you can do better.” Always.

My experience is very different. The Catholic Church I attend has 2 mens groups. Augustine Institute puts out CDs, etc. on true masculinity. Into the breach by bishop Poprocki (I think). THe Church is making great efforts to clarify to men God's definition of manhood rather than manhood as defined through the lens of 'accepted by feminists'. So I feel overwhelmed with all the resources, yet you feel the opposite. I am confused, but maybe its just a metter of you getting involved in whats out there first.

I'm not religious but even I'm seeing how the church encourages Christian men to uphold longstanding traditional standards, yet women are given a free pass. Guys have to buy into the blue pill narrative, then when they get screwed over it's their fault.

For the women they could do all sort of promiscuous things, have a past history, or be a single mom/divorcee, but can repent and be accepted into the community with support.

I used to think religious women were the last sort of decent women who weren't corrupted by modern society. The truth is they're some of the craziest types who just use religion to validate themselves or to appear clean.

Most “Christian” churches want giving units, not disciples. Disciples are disciplined, regardless of gender, if they break the rules. Most “churches” just want the money and the good press of how many attend, but have no desire to shepherd or protect the flock. Of course they want men to continue as they have been, because that means families and that means more giving units.

If “churches” want to return to Biblical Christianity, A. Easily 70% plus of current attendees would leave (majority of those leaving would be women) B. “Missions” abroad would almost entirely stop C. Most “pastors” would return to working full-time and take no salary or gifts from the church, ending their ability to travel in style and get fancy cars and houses.

What would they gain? Biblical families, where the wives submit to their husbands, and where strong, deep faith is grown in the children, while the men are encouraged and shown examples of Biblical Leadership.

What you've described is known as "Churchianity". It is not real Christianity.

I first learned that term from reading Dalrock's blog back in the day.

I am a Christian, and the Bible says that both men and women are equally responsible for their sin(s). There is nothing in Scripture that says that women are a special group that is not corrupted by sin.

I tend to think that even before feminism became a thing, this "woman worship" in the church had been going on for a while. Probably one reason for that is that many converts to Christianity had worshipped goddesses in their pre-Christian lives. And they probably carried some of those old beliefs and habits into their Christian practices.

And here we are.

I think you have a general misunderstanding of how the church view forgiveness of sins. Some priests are wishy washy about it but generally speaking it’s understood that the forgiveness that most people think of is from god, from spiritual punishment. Temporal effects, the stuff right now, doesn’t just get hand waved away and has a bit more complexity behind it.

I’m Catholic and still believe. My community treats me great and the church is one of the things that keeps me grounded and sane. My best experiences come from guys groups just meeting up trying to learn and generally talking/ joking.

However… when I was being confirmed like 8 years ago my advisor told me something that clicked with me. That the church was becoming too culturally feminine for him and needed to change. The church was very apologetic and trying to be ‘hip and cool’ rather than just embracing what it is. That might be what you’re feeling.

It is, indeed, a sad truth that the lies of satan had poisoned many christian minds - not only about masculinity. I am a roman catholic and i'm trying to avoid interactions with other members of the Church and the community as a whole. Because, sadly, the teachings of many priests and the behavior of many christians contradicts the doctrine of Christ and the Church, especially when it comes to masculinity.

But, that being said, i hope christian men, who sees how twisted things are, stay faithful to God, the Church and the Truth - which doesn't mean they have to accept these gynocentrics ideas of men's roles.

Keep your eyes in Christ fellows. Take Him as you example.

My church talks about women and women's rights every Sunday. It's 1 reason why I don't give them any money. I don't feel wanted, needed or respected. So I don't give. He'll, I don't even sit in the sanctuary.i sit at the lounge area and relax.

You’re confusing western liberal “church” with Christianity.

Try Orthodox Christianity. It’s unchanged in 2000 years of tradition. If the eastern rite (Greek/Russian) is too different for you then you can try a western rite Orthodox Church.

Also some of the breakaway conservative Anglican churches are ok.

Women are held to no standard. There's this myth that churches are "slut-shaming" and all that, and in my experience it's not. Sometimes they almost seem happy to facilitate women with a passel full of happy little accidents as it secures their youth program. All the fault of the world is on men, who are given all the blame and all the traditional burden but not one of the benefits. It's a mans fault if his household is out of order, but he's not allowed to be the head of said household. There is no winning. If you're a woman, there is no shame, you *deserve* a husband and care for your illegitimate children.

In short, churches are awful for men, and just another get out of jail free card, for women.

Christianity has always placed the burden of leadership and responsibility on the man over the relationship and family. The difference now is that society doesn’t allow men to treat women like property anymore with the ability to “punish” certain behaviors.

My sense is that what you’re observing here is how the church is grappling with this traditional family structure in the context of modern egalitarianism.

Highly recommend you watch it. One of my main takeaways is that the church caters to women because it’s their biggest customers. If they started holding women accountable I guarantee their donations would substantially decrease.

When I was younger, I asked the church minister for guidance twice. Too busy to help a young man. That was 40 years ago, so it was starting then. Dumped religion and worked on myself with other resources and never looked back. I will never have anything to do with any organized religion again.

You might want to consider looking into Orthodox Christianity. People have often remarked that Orthodox Christianity is more "manly" and enjoyable for men. I'm not sure exactly why, maybe the beards have something to do with it.

Didn't work for my sister and her husband who went to christian couples counseling but that likely has more to do with my sister being selfish and conceited. I myself haven't had good experiences in the institutions of Christianity in regards to relationships and masculinity. Tried to find a place to stay temporarily like YMCA but thats not how it is now and places available are for drug addicts. Tried asking advice on how to get an exgf to accept Christ or at least see the good of faith but got such a simple insulting answer of "get a new one" that I didnt know what to make of it. I have had good experiences seeking reassurance and help from Christians on a personal level. I know a story where the church intervened in a marriage of a girl I know from school and she was kept out of the loop of the discussion and they went behind her back and ended up getting divorced. She was the one who brought the issue to them in the first place. So yes I have had more bad experiences than good.

I mean your personal stories are your own but in my time with two separate churches, Catholic and a non-denominational, they do a great job of supporting men. Men only dinners, clubs where men meet up and do good things for people, and helping out when things get tough. Might be a small community kind of thing though because I grew up in a rural area.

There is a book published in 1999 called The Church Impotent: The Feminization of Christianity that talks about the rising feminization in the Western church. It's been a noted problem for a long while.

I may be biased, but as an Eastern Orthodox Christian, I haven't noticed this feminization happening - though there are those who are trying awfully hard to introduce such. Most parishes that I've been to have had an emphasis on men getting together and being men through men's nights or men's breakfasts.

From the heart of most religions, keeping family together is what is most important. For Jews and Christians we can find answers in how priests would show if a woman was being unfaithful or not.

You give her a bitter drink that is basically benign which you claim will abort the child if she is unfaithful.

Today people seriously argue that this is some kind of prescribed abortion that Christian were forcing on women without realising the drink does absolutely nothing.

The result is that the husband doesn't think his wife is unfaithful, and so he will be more likely to stay and raise the child as his own regardless of the truth.

Christians never care about men, in the same way feminist say Christians don't care about women - if anything religions only care about children, or the future.

I go to church but kind of keep my distance because of this. While I think churches are doing some good work, a lot of husbands in the church give me this happy wife, happy life vibe. The entirety of society has become pretty gynocentric over the last few decades, it's no surprise it's seeping into the church.

Single mothers are a perfect example. It used to be like being a leper in the church. Now they sit front row with their 3 bastard children.

That's almost entirely on Catholicism. I'm in a protestant church and we still heavily encourage men as head of household and as leaders of the family.

It's very important for churchgoers to seek out a church that they agree with. Everyone's interpretation is going to be a little different, so you need one that you like.

Religion was created by man to control people by threatening them of eternal heaven or hell based on their behavior while alive on earth. It’s the ultimate ruse, as you give money and your time throughout your life and have to die to see what happens and can’t come back to complain you were lied to and robbed the whole time.

The quicker people wake up and understand all religions are fake, the faster we can move on and grow as a society. The sexual assaults, wars/crusades/genocides, giving vulnerable people false hope, taking peoples’ money (especially poor people), etc etc etc. This is for all religions, not just Christians. It’s really evil stuff. But let’s be clear here; typically the communities are good but the religion part isn’t. It’s important to separate these two different aspects in my opinion.

I can not speak for my church, as I am still quite new there due to moving recently. The church I went to before I moved seemed to treat men quite well, but I didn't spend that much time there either. These churches are all Catholic, btw, as I have been going through the process of RCIA. I will say that the online Christian community can be quite dismissive and brutal towards men, but these are typically very liberal discussion boards (r/Christian). Typically, I find the Catholic subreddit to be good, but they also have this problem. That said, I have met quite a few solid Catholics online that would not stand for that behavior/attitude towards men. But I get where you're coming from. People (online, in my experience) can bend words to push a very anti-male message.

Edit: I'm so sorry for all of you guys struggling with this. I am grateful in that I feel sheltered from this nonsense, but time will tell once I enter the Church and get more involved with it. Hopefully, this will not be an issue. Some of the horror stories I hear on here are things that I wanna doubt as rage bait. I'm not saying that I doubt you guys, I've kinda experienced what y'all are talking about in an online environment. But this stuff is difficult to imagine being said to men.

…I do have to agree with you that we, as a wider Christian community, have a problem. We need to somehow fight the rot in the Church. I just finished watching Time Changer, coincidentally. It really convicted me on a number of issues.

I don’t know what the solution. But I do know that you can vote with your feet, and this I recommend as a minimum. Find a better church, and you will be happier. You’ll also leave an impression on the church staff who do keep track of who comes and who goes. And if they refuse to listen to God and refuse to stop using His word to justify sin, then their church will wither and die away. I’ve watched this happen to many a church. As sad as it is, it does sometimes need to happen.

“Why Men Hate Going to Church” is a good book on the subject, although a little outdated. I don’t agree so much with a lot he says any more theology wise, but I have finally found a church that feels somewhat better. It’s the only church I’ve found with a thriving mens ministry. And not the wake up at ass-crack of dawn for greasy breakfast kind, this is the sit around the fire with whiskey and cigars/pipes and discuss some heavy theological points.

Well I'm an orthodox Christian, but I don't really go to church that often (I go during some times of the year like Easter or Christmas for example).

It may be because of difference in cultures, but I haven't encountered what you're saying to the church I go.

Here is a small article talking about it although it's in Greek.

Here although a bit traditional although it still shows equality between men and women.

Now, because Christianity has many branches, and many people just use the name of the religion to get wealthy (example these mega churches I hear about that exist in USA), Some of the branches are way too traditional and have some outdated views, other branches are more open to change and to progressive stuff, other branches are a mix of both etc.

Now, the only priest I had interacted is the priest of the church I was talking about earlier. Pretty sweet dude and has good singing voice (in festivities that are done in sometimes in the village he partook in the singing lol).

But I'm 100% there are plenty of priests out there who as the saying goes "don't heed what they preach". And I believe these people should be called out on their hypocrisy and bad behaviour.

The church in your example the Roman Catholic church is pushing people away by keeping strict roles in the church. They are making atonement for their past sins by being hard on men as well as letting women stay behind in a milk and cookies fashion. I am starting to feel like an apologist.

I am in a very multicultural church. It used to have a strong Italian and Polish community presence, 30 years ago, now it has a strong Filipino presence. I can say that there has been cultural changes do to different communities involvement.

Why is it there are alter girls and boys now, when it used to be only alter boys? The number of boys participating in that role had dropped, so to help make up the numbers, they included girls into that role as well.

There is a strong focus on understanding and respecting others in the community. There is a look out for others and to help them.

I wouldn't say this is gynocentric.
