That's a great way of making people take female violence more seriously... they don't care when it's a man, because he 'should be able to take it', but if you point out that violence can be turned on kids too...

It's sad cause it kinda takes away from the point that we should be having empathy for men too. But if it works to end women's violence why not.

I very much lived this, my mother was physically abusive to my father until the day he left, it was decided that she was the fit parent and we didn't get to see our dad growing up much, but the older I got the more violent she got with me until the day she kicked me out of home, when my dad found out he came and saved me so we could be homeless together, the father who I was told was a violent deadbeat was the most patience and love that I had ever gotten, and I was very emotionally damaged and difficult, and this violent deadbeat scumbag helped me heal in a way no one else could have done for me, I love my dad and a have a very hard time forgiving my mother, but people still question it, give her a benefit of the doubt that angers me and sometimes even makes me question myself, "was it all in my head? was my mum really not that bad and I was just a bad daughter?", then my dad comes over and gives me a hug and reminds me that it wasn't me, she really is a cunt, even if she has convinced most people that she isn't.

The father and family in this story had far too low IQs to qualify as care givers. But everybody knew the judge made the wrong call, yet decided to hope she'd be able to be a good parent. (Mind you that as far as they can trace it back, all mother's in her family had their kids taken from them)

I'm very close to this case and was in the room with this beautiful girl before she was declared dead. (She already was, but kept alive by machines)

What is always said is that women are weaker so their violence is not THAT bad. My biggest issue with that is a women who is violent does not freaking think it through like that. Will she stop abusing her husband if he gets ill? If he ages worse than she does? If he gets some sort of an injury or disability? If he is weak for any reason at the moment? No.
She also will not think if her male child reached the point where he is stronger or not.

This is the thing; they will not stop just because this one time it would be the other person being weaker. They will continue because they can.

The fact that this picture, in an attempt to bring awareness to male victims of domestic violence, used a little girl to validate their suffering is morbidly telling of how fucked up our perspective is on abuse regarding men and the misandry in the West.

Time and time again, a man's suffering is only worth fighting against if it is somehow related to a woman's suffering or mere inconvenience to her. It can't just be that men are worthy of equality and happy lives without women having anything to with it...besides, you know, being taught that it isn't okay or "funny" to beat and rape men.

I watched my mom hit my dad a lot growing up. I even saw her choke him and a five year old me starts crying and screaming in the house. At school girls would gossip about the abuse done to my dad because I guess my mom would tell some of my friends parents and they told them. I’ve watched my dad attempt suicide three times. She was abusive, a narcissist, and also mentally abusive. My dad has scars that remind me of what she did to him. She’s not abusive anymore, but I still remember.

My dad... most caring and chill man in the world. Never doubts anyone and has a heart for everyone. He never yelled at me and he never hit me. So no woman can tell me otherwise. And I wish people shares more of those posts because why is abuse done by women not talked about? Bs.

I grew up with a good majority of the men in my family showing very little emotion or affection. And I only grew up around other girls, there weren't any male siblings or cousins. It made me think that men didn't feel the same way as women, or didn't want affection the same way. It wasn't until I started seriously dating in my 20s that realized that men and women feel the same emotions and want the same affection. I'm ashamed of the way I viewed men growing up, as unfeeling creatures who only wanted me for my body. My husband feels just as deeply as I do, and feels pain the same as me. I have no right to physically hurt him, the exact same way he has no right to physically hurt me. Because he is a person just like I am. I dont get why thats so hard for society to understand.

The whole "women can't be abusers" thing needs to go away. My stepmom is an Amazon at just under 7' and my dad is just over 6'3". I'll come to their house and he'll have cuts, bruises, and gashes on his face. He says stuff like he fell off the porch but in order for that to happen he'd have to fall, scoot his body face-first along the concrete getting road rash, then fall over again. Then repeat.

She is MORE than capable of doing it and has no hesitation in getting aggressive when she drinks.

This post hits home. My fucking wife is doing little things that hurt our 2 year old daughter, not seriously, but still causing pain, and because she's got a history of violence it's really worrying me.

A bit of background: we've been together over 7 years, and in the first two while we were dating, there were a handful of incidents of her getting violent while drinking that were WAY over the edge. Honestly I should have ran for the hills at the first whiff of violence, but what can I say? I was naive.

When it involved me it was throwing things and trying to physically fight, but of course I had no part of that and would remove myself from the situation. The only really scary time is when it was at my place and I couldn't leave; something along the lines of burning my place down would have been entirely possible. It was a bad as anything you could imagine, and I'll leave it at that.

When it involved other people, it cost her a number of friends, at least one job, and who knows what else? Certainly a lot of self respect, humiliation and shame.

Shortly before the two year mark I told her we had to split because I wasn't interested in dating forever, and neither was I interested in getting really serious with someone who was like that. She asked me to give her just one chance, and that she would never get drunk again. To her credit, she hasn't. She drinks only socially and very little even then, and she hasn't had a disaster since, in over 5 years.

Our daughter is 2 1/2, sweet as can be. Toddlers can be trying to be sure, but as far as things go I think she's pretty easy. I love her, and my son who is 5 months old, more than all the world, of course. I am a very patient person in general, without a violent bone in my body. I've never hit a person in my life, outside of a little martial arts. My wife is more fiery tempered with a shorter fuse, as you might expect.

There have been a couple times, including tonight, where my wife has "done something" - the first was a pinch of my daughter's arm when she was being fussy about something trivial. It was hard enough that my daughter screamed and cried right away, holding her arm. Worse, my wife had done it in a way where she thought I wouldn't know what occurred, but my daughter's reaction gave it away. There was a small mark which became a small bruise for a day. I immediately called her out, and she tried to deny it. There was no way I was letting her off the hook. Who the fuck is wired so wrong as to desire to cause pain, no matter how small, to any child, let alone one's own? I always try to put myself in another's shoes, which in her case means to feel the frustration, the annoyance, the fatigue of being 24/7 mommy, but this is something my mind can't grasp. I told her as much. It was not an argument; hurting my child is not allowed, and that's not up for debate.

Today, a similar thing, over putting on pajamas. My wife grabbed her and dug her fingers in her shoulder, intentionally, to hurt her. Out of frustration. To teach her a lesson. We had another very brief, very forceful, one-sided talk where I calmly but sternly dictated in no uncertain terms that hurting children for any reason is fucked up, and that she'd regret it if she ever lay a finger on our children again.

Of course she pretended to acquiesce and even agree, but I don't trust her, frankly. I would love to leave her, but we all know that would mean leaving my children, which is unacceptable to me in any capacity, more so considering I now feel the need to potentially protect my children from their mother's violence. I think about whether I may be overly concerned because of my wife's history with violence associated with drinking, but then, no: although this is different, hurting kids is wrong in any capacity, dumb dumb. So, is telling her she would "regret it" an empty threat? Probably it is.

I dunno, sorry to vent I guess. Any feedback appreciated. I put myself in this situation and my kids as well by bringing them into it, and while I acknowledge and accept responsibility for that, doing such entails that I try and figure out what the best move is for my kids' sake from this point forward.

My mother was rarely physically abusive to me but had her moments. It was normally her telling me I was worthless and often she would talk about wishing she never met my dad(especially after they divorced) or aborted me. She left my dad without telling him she was pregnant and he didn’t know about me until I was almost 2 and he fought tooth and nail to see me. They married afterwards and divorced when I turned 18 and dad won custody of my brother with my mom claiming he was abusive(I said otherwise). It comes full circle for some. Something that’s always bugged me is no one wants to talk about emotional or mental abuse, especially with boys.
