I really hate this attitude that men have to cry or there is something wrong with them. It's certainly okay to cry, and it sucks when men are shamed or delegitimized for it, but ultimately men don't cry for very good reasons.

For one, men are not conditioned to cry the way women are. When women cry, people pay attention and their problems often get fixed; often by other men. This also starts happening for them from a very young age and carries through for most of their lives, so it is something they are effectively conditioned into. It does not mean that they are more emotionally mature or better for it.

When men cry, however, no one really gives a fuck. Best case they get a hug, worst case they get called manipulative or unworthy men. Either way, nothing gets done. Nothing gets fixed. The problems that led to the tears still remain. Some of those problems may even be entirely out of men's control but they would still rather try to do something about it than just cry.

Most men would first try to understand their situation, try to come with some kind of logical understanding of the problem and argue their position. Of course, men are often very much silenced in that regard as well, because they will be vilified and delegitimized for this as well, but it often feels more productive to argue your position than to cry about it.

Not my favourite of his presentations. While the slides do a good job of presenting some statistics to people unaware of the disenfranchisement of men, this doesn't hold up as well to me as some of the others I've seen.

For starters, we don't need refugees. The one percent statistic is definitely worth pointing out and something that needs changed, but phrasing it as 'we need refuges' is just weird. Likewise reducing the discrepancy in performance in schools between girls and boys to 'we need help' is not helpful to me. We need fair grading, we need for male and female teachers to be treated equally, we need a number of changes, but to reduce it to 'we need help' seems to imply that boys just can't cut it on their own/aren't as smart as girls in school. Same with health care. The fact that men die younger may or may not have to do with how societies tend to treat men, but on almost every country on earth men have access to 'health care'. While there are certainly points that can be made in this area, 'we need health care' is not a good summation point imo.

The regulation one is also way off base. Even if one is inclined to this position (personally I'm not) looping in other political positions into MRA is just a divisive mistake. Most victims of gun violence are men, better add in that battle of gun control. Men may contribute more/less to climate change, better tack on the climate change initiative. Bella wants to be Edward who is a man, but she also wants to be with Jacob, also a man. MRA better take their stance on this men's issue as well.

I'm all for acceptance, but men are less accepted than women in many ways, and I feel limiting the statement to gay men compared to gay women needlessly narrows the concept. I'd either go with a more broad general statement, or include that on a list of at least a few.

Personally I'm not fond of the presentation theme of saving your tears either. I get what he's going for and I'm sure some will appreciate it, just not for me. It's okay to cry, but it's not good. It's not bad. It just is what it is. I think overly encouraging it actually leans into the modern feminism/new agey take of men not crying is toxic masculinity, etc. But as the unwoke Tom Hanks once said, 'there's no crying in baseball'.

No, we don’t need regulation. It’s like the gender wage gap myth. Women tend to earn less because they tend to choose lower paying jobs, and men tend to have more workplace deaths because they tend to choose more dangerous jobs. The government shouldn’t be regulating people’s choices, because that takes away people’s freedom.

I think as men this is something that we have to bring to the table. Homophobia is by and large upheld by men. We should stop pointing our fingers at feminists, because they're not the root of our problems--we need to acknowledge that men put up the most resistance against our cause.
