A lot of words to say:

White men have been demonized through the education system.

It's a poor article as it doesn't delve into the fact that "right wing" is used entirely as a slur and has no actual basis in reality. I have been accused of being a "far right misogynist bigot", but I did my political compass test and I'm almost dead-center. Young men are being accused of the same, but according to the latest research they are all still liberal, just not as wildly extreme-left-wing as young women are. (edit: notice how even the graph has been constructed to show men going down rather than women dropping off the charts)

It might have been easier to write that the system is stacked against boys and men, and that they have woken up to this fact and are choosing any other avenue of identification that isn't the mainstream.

I've read much better articles with fewer words.

I posted this to the Left-Wing Male Advocates subreddit, and they decided that a discussion of why boys were becoming increasingly right-wing wasn't relevant. I don't know what's going on over there, but the moderation has gone to shit.

I tried posting on there a few weeks ago looking for a discussion that I couldn't seem to find through searching the subreddit, and they removed the post as low effort. I posted the same here, and someone was kind enough to link me to the post I was searching for on the Left Wing Advocates sub.

Seemingly, they're too pretentious to include unauthorised discussion on that sub.

My biggest pet peeve about this is the absolute lack of self awareness people on the left exude about this issue. its always:

"I can't believe young men aren't voting the way we want and siding with Republicans. fuck them."

and never

"wait a second, WHY would young men be siding with republicans over us?"

Like it just cannot be that THEY might be in the wrong with their messaging. impossible to consider. inconceivable. If they do not change this mindset I fear the next election is already lost.

This is frustrating, because he's so close. Yes, young men are shifting to the political Right (frankly, they already have)- what no one on the left (I'd say "to the left of me", but that wouldn't help anyone else) seems to be able to do is explain why that's a problem. "Being right wing" is not the same as "being a racist fuckhead"; I'll admit there's some overlap, but it's nowhere near a majority.

A politically healthy society is one that acknowledges periodic shifts in public attitudes, as well as THE IMPORTANCE OF CHECKS ON PARTY POWER. The Left seems to have lost that utterly; I'm not sure the Right ever really understood it (not in my lifetime, at least), but the modern young and early middle-aged Right-leaning people I know can at least fake it.

The most liberal GOP Presidential candidate in fifty years is not a fascist; his actions, like those of every human being who ever lived, are far more important than his words. But no. He's right wing, therefore he's Hitler.

It's not politics for these people; it's religion. Maybe it's time I stopped expecting them to be able to see reason.

okay but i hate this cartoon because literally no one is teaching critical race theory to children in schools. it's graduate school-level subject matter.

it's annoying when people say "crt" or "woke" or "DEI" when something isn't instead of just saying what they're actually upset is being taught. like if someone is mad that they're teaching "white people owned slaves until not *that* long ago in this country," like, just say that's what you're mad about.
