We know that women are hypergamous (quality over quantity) and men are polygamous (quantity over quality). . . But what about lesbians? Gay men are clearly polygamous and are generally known to exercise this through having fun with as many partners as possible (as it’s easier to get laid than heterosexual men). But what about gay women? They’re still women and so you would expect them to be hypergamous…but how? Do they select for other women who they perceive as better than them? How so? Doesn’t one of them have to be the the “inferior” position in certain aspects?

I know RP theory really only concerns itself with heterosexual dynamics, but it’s still an interesting question. It occurred to me when reading a thread about lesbians and height preferences. Apparently, bisexual women tend not to have height requirements for women but they do have height requirements for men. Meanwhile, some lesbians (those who only date women) have height preferences but hardly any seem to have height requirements.

Dating taller is hallmark evidence of hypergamy in females. Why does this not seem to apply to lesbians? Are they hypergamous about other traits in women? Or did evolution ensure that hypergamy only applies when evaluating males?
