The numbers would be similar because there are lots of losers and undateable red flags on both sides, but men are more forgiving of flaws than women are and have less things that they care about such as education and income. They are also a lot thirstier which means they will put up with bad things for longer. The standards for men are sky high, but the standards for women are practically nonexistent so obviously more men are going to fail than women are.

There are more undateable men, which ironically are the ones keeping the economy together.

Minimum wage workers, essential workers,etc. Also those who are mentally ill, incapable of dating or die very young (men are more likely to die due to suicide or violence at an early age)

I saw an unattractive overweight woman when I was out yesterday (mostly because she was overweight, she had the fat under chin thing like Jabba the Hutt) and noticed she was alone, and then a minute later a 4/10 sat down with her with some food.

So yeah, I believe that there’s a man for every woman if women are realistic about what they can attract and are willing to settle for a looksmatch rather than what they think they’re entitled to. In this case the guy clearly settled.

Women and men are equally obese (approx). Women and men make about the same and women and men are about equally educated (slight advantage for women).

Now, as to whether there are more undateable men in some kind of theoretical objective way, that is tricky to even speculate on. Depends on culture and time and place. And cutoff for undateable.

Well for starters things are in the dumpster economics wise so most young guys cannot afford a house or family aka a provider role.

Here in America we are getting fat and lazy. I think young women have eclipsed men in that regard but not by much.

So, this isn’t so much my take as it is the observation of a male friend of mine who’s wife just died so he’s feeling fairly philosophical and not all his tales are going to be reflective of what he thinks in a normal headspace.

Anyway, he think that men are more willing to “settle” (meaning that there are more women viewed as “datable” by men then men viewed as datable by women overall) for a number of reasons:

He thinks boys are often not taught how to preform (or even given any awareness of) basic domestic life-skills. This is a huge disservice to grown men when they find themselves floundering and struggling not only to learn that certain tasks needs to be preformed, but how to preform them, and how to make them into a habitual and automatic task that doesn’t require mental energy to remember/preform (it’s so hard to ingrain these things into ourselves once we’re already adults). Women (most not all) have been instructed and expected to preform these things since girlhood, and do them on an automatic level. They’ll usually take up the reigns for their partner. Typically (all things being financially even) having a woman in the house who gives a shit about him, even if she’s not a looker or a real great conversationalist, means a mans quality of life will increase. A woman’s quality of life isn’t usually going to increase when she lives with an ugly and boring man unless he offers her financial perks she wouldn’t have otherwise. That basically means all ugly and boring men who don’t have the means to offer a financial incentive have nothing to offer to a woman, whereas an ugly and boring woman offers domestic perks (and also, yes, a warm hole) that many men would feel is a net gain.

Personally I also feel like women have this strange advantage/curse situation when it comes to beauty standards and a the beauty industry. We are taught from pre-puberty that we HAVE to be clean and groomed and smell nice and don’t eat that and here’s how you do mascara and dress for your body shape and here’s how to make yourself look presentable no matter how much of a Quasimodo bitch you might truly be. It’s exhausting and reductive and not ideal but…a lot of women only shower as often as they do because they feel alien if their legs aren’t shaved. A lot of women only look in the mirror every day and take an inventory of what’s going on/what to improve because they’re putting on makeup that they have to wear for work. A lot of women only realize they’ve gained weight and will diet about it because having even a little tummy is massively apparent in our form cut clothes and nothing ruins an outfit and makes you look sloppy like 10 extra lbs does. There is this social expectation that women will improve and polish and maintain themselves. Flaws must be addressed and here’s how. Assets must be exhibited and here’s how. You must adhere to the social standard lest you be deemed worthless…and here’s how.

Men don’t have these things. Guys can go all day without looking in a mirror and have to gain A LOT of weight before their pants even feel tight. If you’ve got some weird shit going on with your looks it’s either unaddressed or made fun of but not given instructions or shamed because you’re not doing x thing to fix it. In general men are given pretty fatalistic feedback about their flaws compared to women who are told that with enough effort/money they can someday be a desirable mate. So I think men just don’t get socialized towards self-improvement and are even deterred by being told it’s pointless if they’re not (white, tall, rich, square jawed, etc). So there’s a lot of men who’d be far more datable with varying degrees of effort but they can neither identity that/how they could improve themselves and even if they could they’d likely see it as pointless.

It depends on what makes someone undateable.

For me, single parents are undateable.

There are more single mothers than there are single fathers by virtue of custody assignments. So by this criteria, there are more undateable women than there are undateable men.

But for most “red flag” type criteria, I would say that there are more undateable men than their female analogues.

To me an undateable man for a woman is someone who looks younger or not really physically attractive, and a lower social status (except for one shot).

Red flag is more about being creep like pressured her, being mysoginist,..

Depends on what counts as undateable. Someone carrying abusive traits, psychopathy and emotional unavailability will always be the one to be alone. Ofc men and women can equally be annoying, ugly or anything but seriously psychopathic and emotionally unavailable people in my life were always men, not women.
