“Most men and women are overweight”

Is an example I often see when people talk about the “average man”

But the brain doesn’t work like that in regards to attraction. An “average” man is based on the physical potential, not how many men are above or below this.

A 5 foot 9 guy who is slim but soft, with a joseph gordon levitt face (pretty neutral, not really defined or sexually dimorphic but also not ugly - just “a face”) is slap bang in the middle of what a man can potentially be physically on the attraction scale. Statistically he is above average, as yes, MOST men are overweight - But the human brain doesn’t work like that. A woman won’t look at a guy like that and think “statistically he is above average” - She’ll think “he could be a few inches taller, have a more handsome face, be more muscular, and have a nice beard, tan and good teeth - which would make him very attractive- OR the other way he could be fatter, paler, spottier, have terrible teeth, be bald, be shorter, etc etc”

Her brain isn’t saying “statistically there are MORE men who look worse, therefore this man is above average because he’s slim and not ugly and average height”

No. No that’s not how biology works. A woman’s brain doesn’t care if there are more men lower on the physical potential scale than there are higher. All that means is that there are more men failing to look after themselves. The amount doesn’t matter. All that matters is where on that scale they are. Are they closer to tall, jacked, handsome and tanned or further from that?

The “well most men are overweight, most men are blah blah THEREFORE women should be attracted to the statistical average blah blah” NO. That ain’t how it works. She’s seen and see’s very attractive men in life and on her phone, so you’re compared to the physical potential, not the number pulled from the national health and population database.
