I caught a mean cold from my nephew or my sister. He's 2 and frequents a nursery, my sister is a pediatrician, so they are both walking viral dispensers. We all tested negative for COVID (daily testing), but what ever else I had gave me the snottiest nose and a brutal headache during the holidays. Couldn't get drunk on mulled wine :(

Had to visit the hospital to see my suicidal friend on Xmas day. Basically just got shouted at by him for 'punishing him with this prison' - so that was fun.

Didn't manage to have a Christmas meal which sucks, but had some nibbles and drink here and there seeing various people.

Looking forward to NYE on the beach - might hit some pubs/clubs and de-stress.

My mom ordered and had me pick up a seafood boil. The oil from it leaked, and pooled up in the passenger seat of my car. I was pissed. It’s mostly clean now

Let’s see. Mr. Paisley has been in the hospital with diabetic ketoacidosis since Thursday. My daughter got engaged but her dad threw a tantrum because her fiancé did not ask his permission. Which is stupid and selfish of him (dad I mean) but I digress. My dad can’t do stairs and my daughter and I both have them, so we did Christmas at Dad’s house. This is a problem because Dad is a hoarder. Also Dad’s roommate spent the afternoon sleeping on the couch while we exchanged gifts and awkward glances. Also I had made Thanksgiving dinner for my elderly neighbors which was a mistake because they asked me to make Christmas dinner too, then didn’t like what I had planned to make so I had to make something else instead. 🙄

Had a nice woman-free minimalist Christmas. Kids got what they wanted - only a few gifts but they were a bit lavish. Tech isn't cheap these days.

Made a simple dinner with foods the kids like. This does not include turkey.

Kids didn't eat much and wanted to open gifts right away and not have to wait like at moms house. So that's exactly what we did.

Then the kids gave me a hug and said "Thanks Dad!" and went to their respective rooms to play with their new tech. I told them to come out if they got hungry.

So, that's how I flipped society the BIG FUCKING BIRD and did Christmas in my small, quiet, simple way.

Knowing that this would never be good enough for that special someone I just haven't met yet made being single for it all the better.

My son actually marveled at how little waste there was. No food waste. No wrapping waste. No gluttony. No excess.

The children are learning not to be pigs from their minimalist father.

My work here is done.

We found the feral cat's kittens when we ran over them with the Skidsteer putting out hay for our cows in the pouring rain. Why she put them under there, I'll never know. Merry fucking Christmas.

There were 2 casualties and 2 survivors ... who are now living in a box in the house. Luckily they are just old enough -- barely -- to be weaned. They're lapping up watered-down canned food out of an eyedropper and crawling all over the place when we let them out. Cute little suckers. One male, one female. I named them Merlin and Agatha.

Took 2 coworkers to test for covid after a 72 hr quarantine (both roommates). One guy came back positive and the other negative. Got worried that I might have contacted from the positive guy (sat in the front seat next to me) ane had to wait 5 hours to get tested because the testing site was closed from 2 to 7pm. Billed my job for all those hours I had to wait but gave my family a scare on Christmas day. Luckily I tested negative.

Last year my wife caught me snap chatting with a younger woman. Coincidentally her cat was dying so she has a lot of emotions processing this time of year. I’m just kind of ignoring it and changing the subject because I’ve got my own stuff to deal with and I can’t handle someone else’s emotional baggage on top of my own issues right now.

My husband spent Xmas dinner telling his mom everything she did wrong with the chicken, and then MIL almost set the house on fire, again.

To be fair, MIL really dropped the ball on dinner, even she admitted it was bland and dry. She's normally a phenomenal cook, but that year she definitely phoned it in.

Another year she made a super complicated rum cake that was awful. So she threw it out, but then a raccoon got to it and it promptly killed the raccoon.

I don't think I've ruined a Christmas, I'm usually hiding somewhere or lurking in the background.
