If he can do absolutely nothing about it? Then there are no options except lowering one's standard. But I believe it's very rare for someone to be in a position were they have absolutely no ways of raising their status, so my advice would be to just keep struggling.

Honestly, if that's your situation in life, you have bigger things to worry about than finding a partner. But OP, if you're in this position, there's a few things you can do.

You can type and make Reddit posts. Why not learn a web-based skill like graphic design, programming, transcribing, etc? That way, you could work from home and need less recovery time. Or get a desk job. Or go to community college to get a degree that will get you a desk job.

Do you like swimming? It's a great way to work out for people with limited mobility. If you can't do that and you're looking to lose weight; download MFP or Cronometer, calculate your TDEE, and reduce your caloric intake.

Do you have a hobby? Join a Discord server or Facebook group and make friends there. Go to meetups if you can, or social nights at local bars. Join your high school's (or university's) alumni association.

I know a guy who's quite disabled with CF. Is in and out of hospital and will probably die from in in the next couple of years. His disability and the treatment for it is not sexy.

He has to spend a lot of time in bed, so he got really good at cool stuff. He's a renowned tattoo artist, writes trendy punk zines and makes backing tracks for hipster rappers. Military is always an option for younger men. If nothing else, it will reset the options on the table for you and maybe you can get dealt a better hand in life after about 4 years.

Certain jobs that have you on the road, like trucking, deckhand on large commercial ship, working oil rigs, foreign contract work are all good choices because you've got nothing to lose or tying you down to one location.

Apart from that? Physical labor for jobs that require legal residency. Typically, government work -- working for the city, county, state, or federal government.

In the Japanese anime and gaming culture there are certain storys called 異世界 (isekai) or another world. Here MC gets reincarnated or transported or summoned to another world and lives a life full of adventures. It is basically a fantasy of escaping this ever boring world and society. Now how does this apply here? Well in most of these the MC (typical guy not Chad maybe 5/10) after gaining incredible power or magic or something like that, gains a female 12/10 love character or even a harem consisting of these. Moreover many of the authors of said storys are mostly betas, due to the style of living they choose (alone, working 20/7, ....). I personally think that it is basically the desire of gaining what you never can reach. I believe that someone who is at such a low point in life or in general has no other choice than to fantasize. I therefore believe that for a beta that has no choice than to survive and be “medially entertained“, it is the ultimate fantasy to just escape this world without dying and having a better chance in another world. I think there is a wish for change or improvement in our society. And I think it is the wish for children of their own and a mother who can nurture the kids of them. And I am due to chemotherapy unable to have children of my own and since I was 7 years old I wanted kids(18 M btw). So I am now in a position where I need to find a new life goal. But it is hard, but I due to my position can understand both sides. I personally know that the grief for something you want to have and at the same time the certainty of your inability to obtain certain goal and finding a new one is the hardest thing I can possibly imagine. And in the end I believe that the only way is to escape through fantasy and become happy somehow. Because in the end everyone wants to survive their lives, even suicidal persons they have just a very different approach at it.
