Women on Reddit give out exactly two types of advice to men that are contradictory;

  1. The first group claims that as a general rule women will rarely directly approach men (even when they're interested). Instead, they say, women will hint romantic interest through subtle cues. These women complain how guys are especially bad at picking up these subtle signs of attraction by pointing out how their refined hints completely flew over the heads of the guys they themselves were once interested in. The advice they give to men on reddit is that they should be more alert and learn to read in-between the lines.
  2. And then of course there is the second group complaining about constantly having to walk on egg-shells when around men in fear of sending him the wrong signal. These women are outright annoyed by a mans ability of interpreting gestures, which the first group would consider flirting, as anything other that platonic. They tell men they should to stop reading-to-much-into-it as it only creates awkward situations, ruins friendships and workplace dynamics.

This creates a schrodingers situation where single single men are simultaneously at fault for failing to pick up indicators of interest, and accused being sex-brained desperate types by reading-to-much-into it.
