I would just be confused. Probably start asking how they extrapolated some personality traits from me based on my fairly disinterested and neutral 'public' face.

Protip: If you want someone to leave you alone fast, start questioning the logic behind their every statement.

Sadly I'm just genuinely curious...

This is an old one I knew about from 60 years of challenge. He always would say you seem like a fun person, etc and they try to live up to that.

Some people use that as a simple, direct opener, "Are you friendly?" I wouldn't use it myself, but some people report it works well for them. It is a sort of qualifier, and you are baiting them to qualify themselves to you. If they take the bait, they're hooked.

Normally you don't go for qualification until you've been in a set for a while, but Sinn talked about using qualifiers as an opener. He said he sometimes opens with "Are you adventurous? You look like the adventurous type." He says it's useful for screening quickly, you can pretty easily see who is and who isn't, and eject from the non-adventurous types.

I can totally see this working. This is a much better approach than tellin' a girl she's pretty as an opener. That always induces more awkwardness than anything (at least for me). Perhaps the same logic applies to this situation, but in a negative way. Maybe because the girl has little to no control over how beautiful she looks? Like, she can't somehow conform to what you just told her?

This reminds of the psychological trick of "priming." You introduce an idea and people will be more biased toward it--something like that.

Yup, it's called force framing. You set up the expectation she's nice or friendly or whatever positive trait you like and people will tend to meet that expectation. It's the human need to fit in and be accepted that most people have. There are always exceptions of course so it doesn't always work. Main thing is to just be positive and keep the force frame simple and positive as well.

It's qualification. Adam Lyons talks about this extensively. I've tried it a few times and I found it very difficult to master. You have to be extremely sensitive and aware of changes in the interaction you are having. It's easy to get put off your game and bomb. If you get it right though I think it's probably the most powerful form of pickup there is.

I'll read your blog or whatever it is. I myself am a complete nerd at the moment and have been reading seddit for some time now. After I get my life in order I will start practicing and watching a nerd go to PUA will give me an example of how things progress.
