5'7 is short but it's not terrible.

Yeah it helps a lot! There are a certain % of women who just won't look at guys under 6' or 5'10 or whatever height qualifications they have. It's usually the women who consider themselves to be in the top 10% in overall attractiveness. They have enough options that they can just disqualify anyone they want and it's often shorter guys. They also often have a minimum they'll accept for facial attractiveness but what's considered attractive is much more varried from person to person.

I mean, that’s because most people don’t truly understand why women are attracted to taller men. Yes, it is an attractive trait but that’s because it is perceived as being confident. If a tall guy and a shorter guy approach a woman, the taller guy automatically has the upper hand until they start talking.

Since being short isn’t attractive, most short men has to work on themselves to attract people. Having charisma, building an interesting life, being a man of value, etc… All this shows once they start communicating whereas most tall guys don’t feel the need to have all that to attract women, hence the tall thing being their only attractive trait(not all tall men).

I myself am a shorter male(5’9). That’s never really the first thing anyone notices on me though. Most people either notice my style, scent, or physique(gymhead) first. This is probably the case for your shorter friend. He knew he needed to up his game and did just that.

Women generally prefer tall men, which makes tall men more confident, which makes them more attractive, etc. It's a feedback loop.

If you're having less luck than your friend, it probably has more to do with you being insecure, giving off desperate vibes, and not knowing how to talk to women than your looks.

In Texas men of all heights have success. My ex's family has shorter men: between my height and 5'8" that never have trouble dating women; in my family, the men are 6'1'+ and never have trouble with women.

"Being approachable" is a thing. Start breaking down your friend's attitude and demeanor then compare/contrast it to yours. Then you'll have your answer.

I'm also 6ft2 but at my heaviest weight 137kgs only obese or very thin below average girls were rarely interested. When I lost about 20kgs, a little more of the above until I lost 30kgs then more average women were interested and pretty women giving ioi's were rare but maybe twice a year. Until now I lost around 60kgs and the below average still stare and look away but are genuinely shy and intimidated, the average and above women send out all types of ioi's up until slightly bumping into me but rarely speak to me first. I'm from south africa so women don't really approach here unless very drunk, even if the guy is a 10. And I only approach a woman if she sends ioi's, warm approach. What I found out a few years ago is that face comes first for most women. Height is important and comes 2nd but in most cases here in S.Africa the guy just has to be the same height or taller than the woman

Being tall can be a factor that’s attractive, but there’s other things at play. For example, confidence, humor, smile, personality, how well you take care of yourself, your fashion sense, etc.

It's the sum total of you that girls judge you with—or at least how they perceive you. What I mean by this is to pretend that life is like a videogame and every aspect of you are skill points that contribute to your overall character.

The tall trait doesn't matter if every other character trait is lacking. Improvements to your social charisma, sense of self-worth, attitude, hygiene, grooming, style, and hobbies & interests far outweighs just being tall.

So I’m not sure if 5’10 is considered tall to most but that’s where I’m at. One thing about being shorter in terms of body building is it comes out much better in terms of aesthetics. So if we’re talking overall physical attraction and muscle definition is a key factor, being shorter I believe let’s you LOOK more muscular easier than being taller.

Does your friend have more muscle definition? Perhaps it’s his overall personality that attracts women and it’s not as simple as who has more muscle. It can be many things, my opinion is that a combination of looks and personality is king. But the best thing is to try and fail, experimentation will yield results for you to decide what’s keeping you from getting more girls versus your friend.
