Solid, solid post!

The problem is the hyperbolic title. There are a lot of people out there looking for tricks to get any girl.

But while it's possible to increase your chances with girls, getting any girl isn't a thing. Some people will be up for it and some just won't.

Game is about putting yourself out there, figuring out when someone's up for it, and making moves when someone is. Like your friend, assuming he capitalized on the attention that came his way.

The idea of getting "any" girl is false representation and builds up unrealistic expectations.

My favorite thing you said was that he was alpha but without knowing it. People get the wrong idea about the word alpha. Alpha doesn’t mean you’re the toughest guy who can yell the loudest. Usually people who are truly alpha are not trying to be.

Being alpha doesn’t even matter. Every man should take a hard look at themselves. I like to say “Confront the Gap”. Really wrestle with what is keeping you from being confident. And eliminate those things or learn to not be bothered by them. Decide what type of man you want to be and actively work towards becoming that man. Doing this sounds intense and it is. But once you do it you will build confidence and be more sure of yourself — this will make you more laid back and easier to approach.

That title man. Shit like that fucked me up when I was growing up because I thought that a real man should be able to get any woman he wants (due to music, tv, and pretty much every form of media pushing that ish), so you can imagine my surprise when I found out that the two most successful guys I know with women have like a 40% success rate (from their own mouths). It's misleading, is what this ramble is saying, especially for new guys that don't know shit about getting women.

Edit: Apart from that, I agree with the message. Just being my friendly, laid back, goofball self has given me more success than any attempts at style, flexing, or being sexy has. Women love a confident guy who's also a good person.

This lesson goes to anything, even work. I learned this in college too from a guy who was a twin brother of Urkel. But he was always laughing, for no reason.

He was not out getting women, but as geeky as he was, people found him hilarious and he didn't say much, he just laughed. He never met you, he would come, smile, and say, what's up, whatever always smiling. That stuck with me because I realized, people loved this guy and he didn't even say much...

Fast forward so many years later, was working in a corporate place that i was slacking just for being a dummy, so my boss called me for a meeting, and i just came in smiling, hey, Lucy, and how are you today...big smile on my face.

We did some small talk, and i just kept on smiling, out of nervousness most likely that i was going to get fired; boss lady says, you know what, this meeting was to go over your bad performance, but i can't stay serious with you, so just do this and that, i'll check in two weeks and if you're improving, this never happened. Done.

Smiles not only gets you women apparently, but saves your fucking job too!

When I started college I did the same. Outgoing, Fun. Introducing myself to everyone up to the point that I walked down the street and half the people knew me. But with all that partying my grades suffered.

One time I went home from a class in which I didn't do well for a couple of weeks and I only wanted to get home as quickly as possible. It was a 5-minute walk. I literally walked 100 meters and about 4 or 5 times I had to talk to different people who I knew from campus and partying and wanted to talk to me to "catch up".

At that point, I realized that I don't want to be this person. I "knew" them all, but in reality, I knew none of them. Everyone only superficial and the conversations ended after a quick Smalltalk. And that's when I realized, I really don't care about any one of them, and I just wanted them to shut up and let me go home so I can focus on my studies. Most people only want the "fun" guy for "fun" times. When you need them in your struggles, they all vanish very fast.

The Gary i know is one of my best friends, he is 5'6 on a good day, big headed, ginger pubed, freckled like a diarrea bowl, doey fuck of a person. Not a Looker, really not a Looker, no money, pretty heavy social drinker.

He fucked a girl that ended up doing the weather on TV (we are not in mexico, but close enough) as a SIDE CHICK for the complete run of the UNI... at the same time, same Uni, only different careers... Both smoke shows. Unbelievable to everyone, A shit bag with the girls trough and trough. i Have yet to see him respect a relationship with a women.

The thing he has is a relentless believe in himself and confidence, a funny fucker and a caring fuck, but that's it. The rest is positive attitude, funny remarks and enjoyable to be around, unattached to anything and sex driven like a motherfucker. Unapologetic and frontal about what he wants.

But still in many ways a mystery to everyman around him.

Honestly this is the best advice. Even men who I might not be physically attracted to at first become 10x more attractive when they seem genuinely happy/content with their lives. They don’t act like getting a particular person’s attention is their priority, but they make everyone feel amazing when they do give them their attention. Treat everyone like they’re someone you want and more often than not you’ll get this mob mentality of being someone that everyone wants to know. The golden rule stands true 👌🏻

Nothing revolutionary here - just back to basics. The two things that stood out:

1) High social intelligence - simply introducing yourself to women regularly with no agenda, and having a good circle of friends is enough to get laid. Seriously. I mean I love cold approach and all, but you don't have to do anything complicated.

2) Lift/workout - getting in good shape will improve everything else. Do it.

This is great advice in general for life.

Although I have to be the one who will point at that simply being well-known and generally liked isn't really the same thing as being desirable to women, if that was the point of the post (which it seems it is).

Gary may have lots of girls who know him and think he's funny and fun, but nothing about your post suggests he is otherwise good with women.

I knew a lot of "Garys" in college. I liked them, women liked them, but they didn't get a lot of romantic attention.

This is a nice story and all, but it kinda comes at a time when a lot of this is unfortunately unusable. Due to the pandemic I mean, smiling at others in public is basically gone due to masks, as well as getting close to them.

As for the group of friends, that incredibly rare due to how much people drop each other and backstab each other.

Tbh all this came to in my opinion is that he got into shape and that’s how he got women. You should take life seriously because it is serious, especially now.

But I’m glad you knew him, he seems to have been a good influence on you.

I think I am a fairly average guy that gets along well with most people. I'm not as outgoing as Gary but I definitely don't have issues socializing with men or women.

A lot of this seems fantastic...but it sucks that the only apparent reason men think it’s worth it to be a genuinely good person is to be able to “fuck 9s on repeat”.

And reinforces the idea that it’s okay to treat all the not 9s like shit because we aren’t worth being a genuinely good person for.

I have never had luck introducing myself without having social proof. It’s instant bitch shields in America. If people already know that people know you, it’s all good, however you can’t just not have social proof and introduce yourself to people. Sometimes it doesn’t matter if you’re the commodity. I was, growing up, and my friends were my family. And women did love me then. But that all changed rather abruptly. Sure, there were things I’d go back and do differently, but mostly, I was given the shit end, and have more knives sticking out of my back than a hedgehog (ouch mouse). The thing about smiling is that it needs to be genuine and in order for it be genuine you need to actually feel like smilling. The other things you recommend as well.
