if you lack confidence, then that shouldn’t be the focus. Bravery should. Do everything that makes you nervous and afraid(systematically go up) And do it repeatedly.

And then once you’ve done that, confidence should be a byproduct of your bravery

Confidence shouldn’t be prioritized because it’s a feeling. You can’t control your feelings

but bravery is, “taking action despite fear” which is something you can do right now and whenever

In regards to seduction? Confidence is what attracts women.

I was not confident until my mid-30's. My entire life I was handsome, smart, successful, etc - but I did not feel confident and this reflected in my approach with women.

How did I become confident?

I started a business from nothing, failed over and over, almost went bankrupt, suffered from anxiety due to my business not making money. For two years I was a complete mess.

I was pushed to the brink and I almost gave up. But I didn't ...

Eventually my business turned the corner and I started making money doing what I love. My dream came true. I was happy.

Guess what? Suddenly I was confident. I felt unstoppable. Why? Because I saw that you can lose everything and feel hopeless and still succeed in life.

I became fearless and a massive risk taker. This made me attractive to everyone, not just girls. That being said, since then, attracting women has been easy for me. Because I feel confident in general and I am happy with myself.

I educate myself and plan ahead, trying to visualize everything forward of me so that what I'm in pursuit of can be achieved. Usually it helps to have some goals in mind to help orient why I'm doing something.

First of all, confidence isn't something that you are born with, there are factor's that you have no control over (how you are raised) that impact confidence or lack of. Confidence is feeling positive about yourself, factors that can build feeling good about yourself. Staying in decent physical shape, being successful in school and/or a job, having some walking around sense, decent grooming, dress yourself in a manner. Unfortunately, many people allow things control them.

The way I interpret confidence is a lack of fear.

E.g. Initially most of us are afraid to sit in front of the wheel and drive car. We have fear, or in other words we are not confident. However, the more you face the fear, or the more you practice you gain the confidence.

Eventually you reached a point where the fear is non-existent. However, just try not to drive for 10 years. And the fear is back.

And no matter what action you try: driving, sky diving, public speaking, approaching woman, being a father etc. There will always be this fear and confidence dynamic.

Confidence is your beliefs, words and actions being authentically aligned - so you are who you say you are and you feel good about it. You don't hide who you are, and you feel good about being you, regardless of what other people might think.

Caveat: it's not arrogance where you think you're better than anyone. It's more like this is me - I like who I am, and am ok if others don't like me.
Caveat 2: this should be combined with always trying to gradually improve where you are lacking/where you are going wrong etc.

Confidence is feeling secure about yourself, happy with who you are, having high self esteem, and being able to have the general feeling that despite anything bad that comes your way, everything will turn out alright (outcome independence).

Regarding how to gain confidence, that's one of the hardest things to teach one how to do. Everyone is different, and everyone will have a different path they need to take to feeling more confident in themselves.

For me personally, it was really just learning how to feel more capable of expressing myself, and being able to walk the walk and talk the talk a competent person. When it came to women, a couple things that helped me feel more confident in myself were losing weight, being better groomed, wearing nicer clothes, and most importantly learning how to just say "fuck it" and express myself to women and not get myself all worked up about being rejected.

I think confidence is a default emerging property of wanting to explore and enjoy things, which we quickly muddy up with fears and anxieties.

Everyone here says "don't give a fuck about what anyone thinks of you" but this is dull Western individualism that makes you alienated from other people. What if you're from a culture that values community? What if you like people? I am not saying that you should be a people pleaser but depending on your location, confidence can come from a lot of places. There a lot of factors that one should consider before giving unsolicited advice.

Confidence does not mean you don't need anyone. Of course we all need someone. If you have severe trauma, you need a trauma therapist. If you are buying a house, you need a co-signer/guarantor.

Confidence, in itself, comes from overcoming obstacles in your personal life. Those obstacles could be ignoring societal expecations, self-care, learning more about your likes and dislikes, having ambitions. Confidence also comes from understand different kinds of people and meshing with the ones that resonate with you the most - this can be applied to the workplaces too.

To me confidence isn't anything but appropriately calibrated expectations. Such that you know which things to avoid, and what type of failures can be recovered from, such that you aren't worried about the failures so much.

It's a task or domain specific thing, like a 9 year old who has been riding a bike a few years is probably confident going around the neighborhood, they've fallen, they've gone fast, maybe gone off some small jumps.

Social confidence is more general, though still often context specific. A guy might know the ins and outs of one scene, but put him in another where he doesn't know the unspoken rules and he'll be more tentative.

There's also confidence in the sense of 'do I have a life that I think a woman would enjoy being a part of'. You might be confident in lots of more focused pick up skills but if you are looking for a long term partner then a feeling like this might nag you. Or maybe that doesn't matter to you and so it won't hold you back.

Confidence is the trust in yourself that you can do something. You gain it by facing adversity and overcoming it. This needs to be with the right mindset where you feel proud of your accomplishments rather than only focusing on what you haven't yet done. It also needs to be done for you not impressing others all the time because people's opinions are unpredictable.

Knowing that you're a valuable human being regardless of people's responses or reactions. That type of confidence really manifests when you work on yourself, make decisions that are good, and possibly do life coaching. Also, start at a place of honesty and do not try to deceive anyone. Let's say, your goal is a hookup, be a gentleman about it (girls have needs, too) and be genuine.
