Not exactly the same situation but here's what happened when I was paying child support/alimony...

When the alimony payments ended my ex was super pissed but there was nothing she could do about it because it's what she agreed to.

The next year my oldest son moved out and decided to not go to college so the new child support payment naturally was less than what she was getting. Again, she was pissed but decided to fight it. ("I'M GONNA MAKE YOU PAY THROUGH THE NOSE!!!)

She asked the support division to recalculate the payments. Turned out they lowered it again because her income had increased substantially. Now she was really pissed so she appealed to a judge.

We had the hearing where it was revealed that she had more income than she originally disclosed, so the ALJ lowered the payments even further.

In the end I was paying $46 per month for two kids. I laughed every time I wrote that check because it was a little jab at her.

Sometimes things work out.

Here’s a hot take, Alimony (especially lifetime) is a medieval concept and should be illegal. Nobody should have to support their ex or be forced by the government to send them money. Laws only get changed when they disadvantage the privileged.

For example, there's talk of making calling someone a Nazi a form of hate speech in the UK. Pro-Brexit voters have been dealing with it for years, but the second Anna Soubry gets the same treatment, it's all hands on deck!

I absolutely relished having sole custody of my son and being one of the rare men who actually got paid child support. It was glorious.

It helped a lot that she was so obnoxious not only in court but to the child support case workers as well, that they took great delight in chasing her down and throwing her in jail for arrearages. They even made sure to sweep her up in their annual Father's Day raids when they went after deadbeat dads.

I don't understand alimony no matter who is paying or receiving. It honestly does not make any sense. Why should anyone have to support someone they no longer are with? I don't care if I married a millionaire, as soon as we're divorced they should no longer have to support me and vice versa. Having said that... The one woman they used as an example had little to no problem with paying alimony? So I dont understand the title saying that women are pissed?? Like I get that the lawyer said women were not happy, but again, the one woman they interviewed didn't seem to have a problem with it?
