MRA's Support Womens rights

21 y/o male here, college student. Being a dude and everything, I'm definitely for men's rights. Having a mom and four older sisters, I definitely believe in women's rights as well. I'm actually new to the whole idea of men's rights (joined reddit not too long ago and found out about men's rights shortly after), and in general I'm not into the whole political activism thing, but what I've noticed from reading a few posts in this subreddit is that I started feeling bitter towards women after reading. With some of the things that I read, I feel that it wasn't anything out of the ordinary, and I'm sure some women reading in women's rights feel the same way after reading their posts, but I personally don't agree with that scathing feeling towards the opposite sex being propagated throughout (wo)men's rights subreddits. If any actual progress is to be gained, I feel that we as human beings should approach these problems (of both genders and any convoluted mixture of the two) together. By doing this, the more extremist opinions that run rampant in both genders will surely fall to the wayside, and the core issues that both genders want resolved will be worked out I'm certain. You wanna screw with your "opposition's" head? Start getting along with them :P

(and I apologize if it sounds like I'm rambling, I'm actually more of a lurker on this site than anything, but I just felt like I had to get that off of my chest)

I upvoted this on principle, but we don't owe anyone an apology or an explanation. We shouldn't get shamed into "proving" that we are not "woman-haters" - doing so is playing by the rules of those who hate us (and no amount of apologizing for our gender will ever satisfy them anyway).

Considering that feminists advocating the extermination of men (like Mary Daly) are hailed as heroes by most mainstream media, and show hosts can laugh about sexual assaults and genital mutilation of a man wondering whether "he deserved it", I think the burden of proof is on women to show that they support men's rights (and so far I am not impressed).

I support any woman's right to choose her own gender role. I don't endorse a rigid traditional gender role or the opposite gender role set out be feminism as being for the good of all women. If a female wants to be a career women and have no interest in raising a family then I support that decision. If on the other hand a women wants to be a stay-at-home mom then I think that decision is just as acceptable. Feminism despite the name hasn't always been supportive of femininity, this is changing but I see no reason why we adopt a neutral view. For the longest time feminism has been about proving that women are as good as men by competing against men, but shouldn't it be proving that women are just as good as men just for simply being a women in her own role, that she chooses. No one is immune to gender roles and an outright rejection of gender roles can only result in the creating of opposing gender roles. I think time we stop worrying about what the standards of gender roles is now and start supporting both men and women's rights to choose their own roles.

I have several reactions to this:

Dude. Paragraph breaks. Srsly.
Women are people. We should treat them like people, just like we expect them to treat us like people.
BUT we don't have to run around "proving" we are not misogynists. We don't have to preface everything we say with a list of the women's rights we believe in and agree with. We are just as entitled as anyone else to the presumption that we are decent human beings who treat others fairly.
Sometimes I am somewhat disturbed by the very angry things that some people here say about women (not just feminists, but women). Sometimes I read things I'd rather people hadn't said. But I remind myself that misogynists are made, not born. That some people are angry, and that anger can spill over. That some people need a safe place to be angry, where they can be angry, not without disagreement from others, but at least without character assassination.

I absolutely agree that women, homosexuals, transgenders, human beings in general deserve rights but the thing is, women already had their liberation to get their rights and they have a voice that speaks loudly for them. The trouble with that is that that "voice" speaks a little too loudly sometimes and someone needs to tell it to STFU from time to time so someone else can get a word in.

Personally I'd describe myself as an egalitarian. If I feel I have the right to go to /r/feminisms or /r/anarchism, and rail against their hypocrisy in not supporting equal rights for men, I would certainly hope that /r/mensrights could live up to the same standard. The point being, I believe that men suffer the greatest inequities in rights under the law at the moment, and so that is where my emphasis lies.

I am a woman that supports MRA and WR. Both sides need to get rid of the extremists, though feminists need more pruning than MRA. Men have been quite well at getting rid of the bad apples.

We all need to respect, protect, love and help one another. We might not always get along but we are in this together.

Also, neither gender needs to be wiped out. That doesn't solve the problem or make sense. We need each other to exist.

Mens rights is not a movement.

Movements never know when to stop, and that's most the reason for our dilema now.

Agency is a strong feminist word, meaning the ability to make choices. Like much of feminist theory, it is topic of many government funded papers and zero utility. Of course people should have choices, but what if their choice is to harm me or society?

Here we have another attempt by Feminists and Manginas (male feminists supporting female superiority) trying to align the MRA movement to their female abeyance methodology where women do nothing wrong and everything is man's fault. Before we wander down that abyss, maybe we should have a look at the way feminists automatically treat men in a hateful and misandric way.
