Probably not my best moment but fuck it I’ve yet to tell this story on Reddit. I was in basic training in 2018 and near the end of our cycle we had what they called Combatives Night where they basically tossed in a pit and did a little bit of organized combatives (basically just wrestling drills) then the Drill Sgts told us “If y’all got beef with anyone in the platoon call them out now. Wrestle it out and get over yourselves.” After a few people went we had this one girl who tries her best to buck up to everyone stand up to call someone out. (For context) Now I’m no bully but, I’m definitely not the type to shy away saying a funny joke if I think it up, even if it’s making fun of someone. I always keep it at a joking level though. I 100% expected to be called out by one of my boys because of it but to my surprise this girl calls out my name. I just look at her and chuckle then look to the drill sgts to see if we’re allowed to call out the other genders. Meanwhile my DS is losing his shit at the concept of me and this girl going at it. I stand up and ask her if this is what she wants to do. “Of course, I’ve been waiting for this.” Now I’m a relatively skinny guy but around that time I was cut and lean but obviously you can’t see that under a uniform so she assumed I was just a stick and thought she could take me. One of my boys called out to me as we were getting ready to start “Bro if you lose, you’re getting sock partied.” So the drill sets us up and he starts us off (we start on our knees) and we have 60 seconds on the timer. She immediately goes for my hips but she’s stupid slow about it so I just put her in a guillotine chokehold and I start losing my shit as I start to put weight into it. I looked over and in between laughter I say “Drill SGT please call this off I’m losing my fucking mind” he calls it off because she starts to gag. After we separated I just looked at her and said “You forced my hand here. We good?” She just looked at me angry as fuck and went back to her part of the circle.

That is if you completely ignore biology. I mean the fact that on average women have 40% less upper body strength than men and about 30% less lower body strength. Women’s hearts are also 25% smaller than men’s hearts which means that woman fatigue faster than men do.

On average women have about 30% less lung capacity than men, which makes men better runners than women. Women also have less oxygen carrying capacity than men containing about 20% fewer blood cells than the average man. Women also have less bone mass than men because their bones are shorter and smaller. This gives men a mechanical advantage over women.

But let’s ignore all that and let them be in combat units.

I served 21 years in the military and retired in the early 2010s. I was both enlisted and officer. Started active duty in the Marines then switched to Army reserves. Was in combat and combat support units. Two deployments to Iraq. Women degrade a unit’s effectiveness and should only be allowed to serve in admin and medical units.

I think the Marine is showing a great amount of respect toward the Army enlisted, and viewing her as an equal. I have seen this very thing professionally, when one fighter is dominant. It is up to the ref to stop it, and any "pulling" of punches is viewed as disrespectful.
