When I was younger, I bent over backwards to accommodate. I asked everyone I knew "What am I doing wrong?" The answer always changed to fit the situation, were contradictory and always my fault.

I didn't speak up, I spoke up too much. I did that, I didn't do that. I overstepped, I didn't step up enough. I showed fear, I didn't show fear and was too intimidating. I wasn't respectful, I was too respectful and looked weak.

It finally hit me. It was not what I did, but who I am: a man.

Men are being taught in school from a young age that they are the problem, even though they may have done nothing wrong.

The only thing I can say about your situation is: You did nothing wrong and are not alone.

the last time it happened, I raised my hand and asked them point blank about male domestic violence.

Teacher was nice about it too. didnt try to deny it with bullshit reasons. she just said that the slides were provided to her, and they all happened to only have male on female violence, but that the opposite was also very much a problem.

This teacher has earned my respect.

Not surprising honestly. I had a college sociology class that flat out was making claims that sexism from men is worse than sexism from women. It provided no analysis on how race or socioeconomic class could come into play with that as well. Was kind of shocked tbh.

Idk if this helps at all, but back when i was in school an English teacher told the class to come up with derogatory terms for males. So we did, and he wrote them on the board. Then he said "we're not going to come up with derogatory terms for females" even though females was written up on the board... He just erased it... So i stood up and said "Mr. (Blank) that's sexist. If you can trust us enough to come up with terms like that for males but not females then thats just wrong." He told me to sit down but i kept arguing about it. Eventually i got sent to the principles office where i voiced my concern of sexism to him instead. He called in the teacher, we had a "chat" and i was told to go back to class and to not disrupt again.... Was complete bs, but i ended up leaving that sexist school altogether and just went online.

Another incident at that school before i left. We were doing group projects. I got groups together with 2 boys and 2 girls. I ended up doing the project myself, and as i was working on it, i overheard one of the girls point at the 2 boys playing and said "this is why i hate working with guys, they don't do anything." So I told her to help, and she refused. So i said "ok, then how are you two girls any better than those two guys?" We ended up getting in an argument, she said a triggering line to me... "Girls are just better than guys in every aspect and you should do what i say." I slapped her. Was sent to the principle, and was suspended. Was complete bs.

Idc how much i get in trouble, I WILL NEVER STOP ADVOCATING FOR EQUALITY FOR MEN!!!

This continues in higher education. I am an editor for my uni’s lit mag and the other editors accepted a piece where a female in a mutually toxic marriage premeditates and carries out the brutal and gratuitously violent murder of her husband and then desecrates and finally burns his corpse. This was not a murder carried out in self defense.

It was well received by everyone in the class except me (I’m a woman) and one male editor who remained (sadly) silent and afraid to speak up. The professor then suggested that we include a trigger warning “for female victims of domestic abuse.” I was like, wait…. Did we read the same story?

As an older student who no longer gives a crap what the young generation thinks of me, I spoke up and said that the trigger warning as suggested would be grossly insensitive to male victims of DV and the piece shouldn’t be featured in our mag for its content alone (it wasn’t a literary masterpiece by any stretch and was being celebrated for the wrong reasons- let me be clear.) I said including the piece in the lit mag was ill-advised. I was immediately shot down. Ok…

I then asked everyone to consider if they’d be willing to accept similar piece written with the roles reversed. I received silence, some immature giggles, hushed whispers, and a few eye rolls…

Anyway, the piece is being published in our lit mag…

Sex education and anything surrounding that topic including abuse violence etc is so poorly taught in America.

At the college I go to, we are required to do a test where we are taught about drugs & alcohol and SA & rape. Thankfully, it was very inclusive to all situations such as a boy being assaulted by either gender and giving hypothetical situations to answer to about SA of men to make sure students can recognize that both genders can be subjected to DV and SA etc. Can’t enroll in the school unless you answer all the questions right.

I’m sorry you had to go through this, really my state did this same shit when I was in middle school, they taught the girls abstinence, the boys didn’t get a sex ed talk.

Then in high school we were taught about DV and never once did they ever talk about boys being a victim, only the perpetrator.

I’ve wrote a letter even to the governor of my state once asking that they implement better sex education and include all genders and teach about DV on men and it’s been 2 years since then with no reply.

It’s sad, but progress won’t happen till there’s a big movement for it, and sadly a lot of people are against their children even being taught those topics, let alone correctly taught. I’m sorry, I emphasize with you. Wish there was more awareness and care for this subject.

Most IPV is mutual violence which means the man and woman hit each other. Feel free to bring that fact to your teacher.

Secondly, you need to schedule a private meeting with your principal about:

That is blatant sexism. I know that you are scared the principal will take the side of the teacher but they will recognize if that these views were aired in public, the parents of most of the boys in that school would raise hell.

This IS actionable. Bringing it to the principal is praxis, which means you're putting your ideology into practice, pushing more into other people's reality and making them aware of the issue (if nothing else). Say that it made you feel about yourself for being male.

Secretly record the entire conversation. If the principal is a no-go (which I frankly doubt), then go to your parents and say that it made you feel about yourself for being male.

Another option would be to start your phone recording in your pocket and then go to the teacher to ask more, saying you want to learn more about the issue. Ask her questions that will lead her to the kind of "social commentary" (read: bigotry) she felt free to say to a classroom full of kids. When it's recorded, then bring that to the principal or your parents.

Or the media. They'll print it even if they don't agree with it because it will sell.

A huge majority of my harassment has been from woman alone (mental or physical) so it bothers me to see it always portrayed that the male is the aggressor. Its a problem that men are often portrayed this way

My lssue I have is i have personally no way to retaliate without being the issue or speak up without people outright not believing me. It also doesnt help that i am autistic and easily coerced

My soon to be ex-wife was recently arrested on domestic abuse charges (on me) for the SECOND time. I’m not kidding you when I say that even after a second arrest, she still claims to be the victim and has full support of friends/family.

It seems that the data in your study is being misrepresented. I am not making a comment on the violence committed from women against men I am just saying that it is not more likely for a lesbian to commit domestic violence against a woman versus a man committing domestic violence against a woman.

Holy shit, if this was happening when I'd went to college, I would stand up right then and shut off the video playing, and inform that teacher what a piece of shit she is (I am assuming this HAS to be a she). No male teacher would teach this in a class.

I would tell everyone that this scam of a teacher is brainwashing all these young women in this class right now to hate men for the rest of their lives and basically ruining their futures and relationships for possibly the rest of their lives. That she is a scam and should be removed from this college immediately. Then I'd likely be removed by campus security by this point but my point and the effect would have been made by then. Perhaps a few might be saved in their minds. Not sure. All the other classes are brainwashing too I'm sure.

Then I would file petitions to the school and probably bring lawsuits to the teacher and/or the college. The classes and what they are teaching would basically be enough evidence in court for prejudiced teachings. I don't understand how this is happening all over colleges and it hasn't been sued out of existence ALREADY. It's mind boggling. I'm also really glad I went to college in the early 2000's before this all seemed to begin.
