Hey! I’m 17, and I’m still learning a lot about the meaning of this subreddit. I went on a date with a guy a few days ago. He is nice enough, and I’m going on another date with him tonight.

Anyway, we were talking about workouts. Fitness and health is really important to me, and it runs in the family. We were talking about our routines. I play soccer, so I try to have a good variety of exercises. I explained to him that I do strength workouts three times a week, and he told me he thinks I should only worry about aerobics and stretches because guys don’t like “super muscly girls.” For the record, I’m not super muscly. I’m very lean, and you can definitely see my muscles, but I literally only weigh 110 pounds so I’m not big. I asked him what’s wrong with girls having muscles, and he said that they tend to be lesbians or huge feminists. I ultimately just dropped the topic because I couldn’t fathom why it’s a problem.

Is it weird for women to do strength exercises? I weave in lots of cardio, yoga, and sports like soccer, spikeball, and golf to name a few. I guess that can come off as threatening, but it’s what I like to do.

Does it make me sound like a feminist if I do all those things?

Thanks for any insights you may have!

A friendly update: we went out last night for smoothies and to the lake. He got weird again when I brought up how much I like fishing and hiking, and he again said he thought only lesbians liked that. Needless to say, there will be no third date. It’s obvious that my interests make him insecure, and I’m not going to drop normal activities to make him feel better.

Thank you, everyone, for the feedback and advice! This has taught me a lot about what it means to be a red pill woman! I still have a lot of learning (and reading) to do, and I really appreciate the support you all have given me! I have received between 15-20 direct messages from non-RP people, some of whom said they’re surprised how supportive you all are of me and my interests. Thank you!
