I feel like homophobia is often co-opted by women when they claim that it’s just misogyny.

I often see and hear people saying that homophobia is the result of living in a misogynistic society. I can understand some of the reasoning because gay men could be considered as fulfilling a woman’s role (by homophobic people). On the other hand, there are a lot of parts of homophobia that I see as unrelated to misogyny. We’re compared to pedophiles, called unnatural, called disgusting, etc.
