You have to remember, this stuff isn't marketed towards men, it's marketed towards women to buy for their men.

Most reasonable men will just go buy the cheapest generic they can find. This is what I do. Anything other than price is marketing for women in my estimation. I buy the cheapest I can get.

The Old Spice adverts here in England have been absolute trash for years but those American Old Spice adverts take it to the next level with having a man cry and act so feminised.

I ditched buying Procter & Gamble products years ago when their American Gillette anti-men nonsense came out and they're still doing it. So vote with your wallets and give such companies the middle finger.

Yes, Proctor and Gamble, (P&G) parent company for both the Old Spice, and Gillette Brands, doubled down after their misandry laden Gillette commercial a couple years ago, I was a life long Old Spice lover AND Gillette user, I have not bought a single P&G owned product line since then.... The vast majority of the products I now use are from Unilever, and I shave with Shick now.

Yeah, that's fucked. A man is showing his emotions and two women don't care. He's opening up about how he feels like something that was supposed to be for him was taken from him and all they care about is themselves. Women are always saying they want men to open up and then when they finally do, they treat them like they're weak.

Overall it’s sad that comericas meant for men aren’t anymore. In truth anything meant for men either gets banned, stops getting funding, or like this emasculates men and focus on women.

I think the inherent implication that it is supposed to be funny when a man emotionally breaks down into tears is a little misandristic but we are trained to ignore stuff like that so that probably goes over most people's heads including the writers to be honest. Subconsciously they get it, and that is why it's there, but ultimately they, as well as most other people, are probably not very aware of the collective consciousness of the society in which they live and draw their inspiration from.

This is the opposite of misandrist. The whole point is “Men Have Skin Too, and this is so good your girl will want to steal it”. The obvious implication is Men’s products should be EQUALLY good as women’s. It’s satirizing the cultural expectation that 1. All hygiene products are for women 2. The woman is correct by default, and it never occurs to even the therapist that Men’s feelings matter. OBVIOUSLY no actual couple would actually get therapy over a bunch of beauty products, IT’S HYPERBOLIC COMEDY. Guys, please stop getting triggered and learn some basic media analysis.

Seems like old spice being old spice. It’s unusual for men to care about skin so I get the angle. The woman being apathetic to his feelings is just in character, and the whole thing doesn’t take itself that seriously.

If they did a commercial with the reverse situation it would be burned. But, this way, with it being negative towards men (in a situation that comes up in real life) it's ok.

Because of woman's rights considering to be still "emerging" going over the line to hurt men's rights is considered fair. This happens so often that woman's rights is just the excuse. Rights had been as even as possible for a long time and now, because the issue is still being pushed, we're getting to the point that it's uneven again with men being damaged.

What bothers me is that it was always targeted towards men and the slogan is still, at least to my knowledge please correct me if I'm wrong, "Men have skin too.". I feel like if they wanna go the gender equality route now, they should change the slogan at least.

Many many many years ago I was at the grocery and saw an Old Spice bottle of after shave. I picked it up and looked at it because why not. On the back it said, "If your grandfather didnt wear it, you wouldnt exist." I have been hooked ever since. I used to enjoy the Terry Crews commercials. He was good. That Dolf Lundgren one cracks me up too.

Didnt really understand this commercial till I read the comments. Dont really care. But like others said, I dont think this commercial is meant for me.

On the list of things to be offended about this commercial is pretty humorous.

So apparently this guy loves his old spice lotion so much that he can't be without it, and his wife took him to couples counseling to learn to share.

I've never thought of Old Spice as a very bougie brand, I think it's a classical scent, I like their soaps and stuff, they smell nice and usually only cost a buck or two more.

What I get from this commercial is not that it's for a woman to buy her man but, when she asks,"are you using all the old spice" I take it she's upset that she won't have any to use.
