I have always made it a standard to date people from healthy families that are completely free from abuse and raised with proper values by loving parents. It's a challenge to look for these types of people, since they are so rare and unique in this world, still I consider it the standard that I consider myself in. Many people often associate dysfunctional homes with parents that are together to be better than divorced homes. However, they are still mostly the same.

My run-ins with these types of people have always been lackluster. Why it is sufficient to say that coming from a faithful marriage isn't necessarily enough to be a better partner, you really have to be in the arms of two parents that are extremely good at what they do. Parents that are in-touch with emotions know how to properly take care of their children, they refrain from shouting at them, hitting them, or belittling them. Shielding them away from the unnecessary drama at a young age, then teaching them how to handle them at an older age when they're older.

How do you find out at a first date? simply ask them about their parents. How were they raised? What did their parents do to punish them? Was their shouting growing up? Was their name-calling from their parents? Have you ever been spanked as a kid? These are good questions to ask on a first date, not only are they good indicators but they will let your date know that you are interest in who they are as a person.
