Did any of you who took up non-traditional gender roles in your marriage find that this was a major cause or factor in your divorce?

For example, after releasing from the Army and while attending school, I was a stay at home parent for three years. In addition, I have always had primary responsibility for the children and the housework (both inside and outside). I have always done the cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. but have also done all the outdoor work and home renovation and repair work, car maintenance, etc. Even now, my hours are such that I am the one who is getting the kids up, fed, dressed and off to school and am most often the one dealing with the school and picking them up afterwards, etc.

After graduating with my masters, I became a librarian. A male librarian is about as rare as a male nurse. In the library system I work, there are over seventy libraries, two of which are managed by men.

My wife had an affair and one of the things she has said about her AP - I found a side by side comparison of AP to me - was that he had a manly job, manly, wage, and a manly truck (I used to drive a 1994 F250, but gave it up a few years ago for a Caliber (I know, I know) because it couldn't carry the three kids). She said in our MC sessions while we were trying to reconcile that she doesn't find my job "sexy". Whatever.

Overall I don't consider myself unmanly, despite all this, most of the rest of my hobbies and interests, etc. comport well with traditional roles, but within the marriage I did take on most of the responsibilities.
