I am a woman from Eastern Europe. The notion of feminity and masculinity is still quite prevalent here. As a woman, I can say that is what I expect from / desire in a relationship.

To avoid confusion, I am not talking about men working while women stays home with children. Most relationships I happened to witness growing up (including my family relationships) were actually VERY equal. Each partner contributes to the activities according to their ability and gender predisposition. Such as, it makes much more sense for a man to carry heavy grocery bags while a woman would, say, be cooking or doing other household activities which do not require strength.

There is also a strong notion of masculinity in terms of responsibility and behavior. Same as femininity in terms of keeping up appearance, tending to the house more and such.

Honestly, when you grow up in this kind of environment and witness this traditional dynamic maintained in a healthy, loving way (no one is forced to do it), you kind of get used it and have a hard time seeing it as bad.
