When a women says they are single they still have options, dates, sex aka not actually single but picky. When a man says he's single it usually means he has no options, isn't dating or having sex.

Do these studies include divorced men? If so, it would make sense that women are happier single. Men often lose or have less access to their kids (weekends), as well as pay child support and alimony. Also imagine slaving away for years to buy your home and then losing it to someone who cheated on you or is abusive towards you. This would be even worse if you were looking to retire but can no longer do so.

I would feel like I wasted my life, which is why I will never get married.

Single women are not happier than women in relationships.

This myth originally came from a book written about a study. The study was an in-depth exploration of the satisfaction and happiness ratings of single men, single women, married men, and married women. The authors of the study used the term "partner not present" to describe single women, which the author of the book misinterpreted as "married but partner not in the room during interview."

When you look at the actual study, it seems that married men and women actually have slightly higher levels of happiness than single men and women.

It always amuses me that feminism is an academic subject in humanities, which is overwhelmingly reliant on reading comprehension, yet feminists consistently demonstrate how unbelievably horrible they are at reading.

The question you should be asking is why are men checking out and not even looking for relationships.

Who is single isn't necessarily a good measure because there are always people who are single and unhappy about it too.

Many are on non-exclusive relationships. I use an app called Hiki where you can put your relationship status and I've seen a ridiculous amount of women who are non-exclusive. People are out here in harems, dating multiple people at the same time. It's crazy, no wonder so many young men like me are suffering in romantic loneliness. Of course that's not the only reason but definitely is one.

This stat has never really been verified. My mother is a shrink and she laughs when she hears this bullshit. Single women are the most heavily medicated group of people in the USA.

Women can get sex easier than men. However, when it comes to commitments, these women have a very difficult time.

If you run the numbers by age, it looks something like:

Single Men

20-30yo: 70%
30-40yo: 60%
40-50yo: 40%
50-60yo: 20%
60-70yo: 10%

Single Women

20-30yo: 10%
30-40yo: 30%
40-50yo: 50%
50-60yo: 65%
60-70yo: 85%

Or something like that. Basically men over 40 are highly sought after by women and women under 30 are highly sought after by men.

There is another imbalance though in regards to children. Women are twice as likely to have a child before they die as men are. But the men who DO die with children die with twice as many as women.

It has been proven out in genetic analysis that any given human, has on average, twice as many female ancestors as male ancestors.

I think it's because it's harder to have a successful relationship if you can't learn to love being by yourself first. Being single and by yourself gives you plenty of time to find yourself, once you've done that it makes dating A LOT easier.

there's not enough population difference to account for that unless you've got multiple women sharing the same male partner.

Men are single not cuz they want to, but because they have no choice. All suitable females don't want to be with them. Happy to be single and having to be single are different cases.

Dating for even a mid female is much, much easier and they can easily find a dozen men waiting in line for her. It's true that females are more likely to be asexual (not display interest in sexual stuff with other people), but the amount of asexual females is not enough to bridge the gap between this disparity.

They say they are happier, but there is data that says othewise. The fact that women over 40 are the highest users of antidepressants by far. Especially if they’re white.

The fact that single women are 4x more likely to commit suicide than married women.

When you’re young being single can be fun, especially if you’re attractive. As you get past thirty, you don’t see your friends as often, work can only fulfill you so much, and as everyone else settles down with a partner who they’ll spend most of their spare time with, you won’t see them as often, you’ll now be alone. This goes for both men and women.

Women tend to be more social with friends and family, fulfilling the need for companionship. Men tend to not hang out as much with friends/family. Also when married, women usually do a large chunk or all of the housework. Men tend to not take care of themselves as well. Another thing is that women are more likely to go to a therapist for their mental health.

Assuming they are all heterosexual and monogamous relationships and these numbers are correct (I'm admittedly skeptical) this ratio must be what it is regardless of people's desires because it indicates there are ~~twice as many~~ many more young men as than young women. The ratio would only change if the number of available partners were to change.

If you throw in homosexual relationships and polyamory that changes the equation but it's still a numbers game and whether certain individuals are happier being single or not is likely only one among many factors. Sorry to come at you like this but I don't have any faith in your basic premise. It simply doesn't work mathematically.

Edit: I left out young women having relationships with older men, that would explain the disparity in the numbers. But I still contend there's clearly a lot more going on here than whether people are happy in a relationship or not.

It’s actually equal. All in all most people end up happier when they married. My dad said the old statistic was disproved and had the same weight as the “wage gap” statistic. It was created to be biased toward certain group.
