This may be a new account but I've been hanging around this subreddit for a while, and I've been able to put a lot of the advice on here into full effect. The other night I walked up to a group of 3 random girls, really hit it off, and got the number I wanted.

Today I met up with a different girl, from OkCupid, using technique I learnt here:

me: I was actually going to grab a cup of coffee at that Cafe I was telling you about after work. If you promise you're not a murderer or something, you can join me if you like

her: ha okay that sounds good

Everything went well, I had her laughing and trying to impress me...but I felt like I was constantly invoking small talk 'saves' to avoid awkward silence. It worked, but after 30 minutes or so I started to run out of small talk topics.

She wasn't an awkward person...perhaps we just don't have enough in common?

Has anyone else experienced this? Like, it wasn't awkward, but I felt like I had to work extra hard to make it that way, and it was tiring.
