This is my fear for my situation, I’m only 8 months in from when she decided to call it quits. And doing the work I never did in our marriage to find self love , work on my depression and hatred of myself. Going out and doing things that make me uncomfortable. Not dating or even casual sex, because I don’t want to bring my negatives into anyone else’s life. My best friend is the only one that says she will never want you back, everyone else says what you posted will happen. I want her back more than anything, even if it’s only to prove I loved her the way she needed even though my own shit kept me from doing it. I’ll always love her, I just hope loving myself will win after being let go. Older people( men and women) than me say if you take her back she will always know she can leave whenever she wants.

She's doesn't want you she wants security and provisioning. As said above, if no kids go no contact; if their are kids, grey rock and only discuss the children. She insults you when you reject her because she doesn't want you, and she only knows a few limited talking points to try to control you. Shame and insults are the default.
