If someone cheats, never get back together. I have been cohabiting with my X wife for over a year. We have two daughters and it’s wonderful. She knows that this is just a relationship and I will never be married again to anyone. She asked for it and I did it and paid her what she wanted on paper. My stbxw emotionally cheated. I caught her sending nudes and posting them online and talking to all sorts of dudes. We tried therapy but ultimately she asked for a divorce because she thought I'd never get over it and she felt like "a prisoner in her own home".

This is some bullshit victim mentality cheaters take on to rationalize a sort of equal standing with you despite being the person who fucked up a marriage and relationship. She was more mad that I snooped rather than being mad at herself for the colossal fuck up she did. I'm not one to be bitter and I truly think we can root for these women from a distance and wish them the best because at some point we truly did love them and want the best for them, but I'll agree with the others and say don't respond and don't engage. You're looking for sense where there isn't any, and none of us can help you find it.

Looks like she is trying to make amends before you have forgiven her for the betrayal. Forgiveness is a personal choice. You don't have to do anything about her message.

But if you want to test her sincerity, ask to meet with her so that she can make amends in person, and you can have body language to aid you in getting the full context of this apology.

And if you sense that she is being sincere take some time to give thoughts to how you move on. Some people need closure, and forgiveness is often more about you than the person who stepped on your feelings, values, expectations or whatever. But key in all this is that you maintain your boundaries and do forgiveness in your own time.

She’s asking you to make her feel better about the way she treated you.

There’s a number of things that could cause this to happen, either somebody’s treating her worse than you did, or maybe she misses something that you provided in your relationship that she no longer has. Like stability.

Either way, she’s looking for an emotional massage. You don’t need to give it to her, you don’t owe her anything.

The worst thing you can do in this situation is engaged. Once you reply with any type of emotion, she can use that to draw you into a fight. That fight can either be used against you, someway, or ending that fight can be used to make you feel like somehow the past has been erased.

The best thing you can possibly do is to give zero answer. Absolutely no answer. Not even a “no. “

Refusing to engage does not provide her with any type of validation that she’s looking for no matter what the reason or caused. This means the next time she feels the way she’s feeling, she won’t come crawling back to you because she has not been validated. The way to end this is to not respond at all .

It might feel weak to not respond, but from the outside, looking in it is a very strong play
