It's actually a lot common. Only a handful of men who don't care about a girl saying no and such are the ones pursuing many women at once and breaking their hearts. In my country, any friend group I have ever had, about 80 percent have never flirted with any girl but those who have, they do it on a daily basis even when committed.

i'm not surprised, especially as sweden is very progressive/feminist and from my experience of living in stockholm for half a year, people tend to keep to themselves a lot (which seems to be common throughout all of scandinavia/the nordic countries).

here in eastern europe it's not quite like that i feel. it seems that there are less single people here and i think most pair up within their social circles in school/uni. bars/nightclubs are a bit more like they were in the early 2000s too (but to be fair, i don't really go out much anymore, so that info might be dated by 5 years or so). i also see a lot more young families when out and about during the day compared to a lot of western/northern europe (where i grew up and went to college).

Reasons that I believe cause this:

IRL Socialization now ironically has too big of a social cost, everything needs to start online first then IRL.

The idea that men approaching women is threatening due to inherent belief that men are dangerous and that approaching makes them feel unsafe.

Cold approach is basically dead, too low success rate.

Potential fear of social repercussions if an approach backfires and gets seen as harassment or impoliteness.

Simply being seen as cringe, or as Impolite has increased social cost nowadays because of cameras everywhere. If you fail an approach and end up in a tik tok or Instagram reel, your face is everywhere to be seen.

Sounds like Swedish men are smart. Stop paying for their drinks. PUA is dead and red pill / MGTOW killed it, ain't nobody got time for that. Focus on building yourself up and let women chase you. You can't convince someone to be attracted to you, it's better to just be attractive.

I am beginning to come to the conclusion that the feminization/hatred of western men is/was an intentional form of foreign cultural manipulation to make us weaker as nations.

Not only are our men afraid to even speak to women, but any signs of masculinity are shunned and ridiculed.

It’ll likely get worse until it gets better and a huge cultural shift starts.. or we get conquered

Who would knew when females would live like men, men will be afraid of their reputation being tarnished.

Places like Sweden, people have small social circle. And the word quickly gets around.

Problem is that once you've reputation of an uncivilized man, then it hits you in every sphere of life.

Women may want men to date within their social circle so that their reputation gets tarnished.

I knew a Swedish guy, who always wore sunglasses, his name was Carl. And he was pretty nice and intelligent guy. And I asked him, he said he had zero success dating women.

Then he moved to Bali and he had lots of success and now he lives there permanently.

I miss you Carl! You are the one who made me feel like I belong somewhere, the first community we ever made.

Funny enough, i have never felt same about any woman. Most women have been self serving and never really helped me much or did anything for me.

Problem is in these countries as women gain power, their men become borderline sucidal and feminine and lose every musculine behaviour. This creates lots of self hate in the men.

I think it is the same for gen alpha and gen z, a bit better for us millennials. I guess Sweden is just as doomed as the rest of Europe. It might be the first country to go full Muslim, all do I still think it will probably be UK.

The odds of successfully cold approaching woman in unfamiliar environments is very low. In America, 30% of generation Z females are gay and i am almost for sure it’s pretty high in Sweden. Many woman are decentering from men (specifically democrat females; most conservative woman are not participating in 4B).

Economic advantages and education has made more women independent and they don’t want a man unless he adds to their life. These are impossible standards for most men to meet.

Woman have become like men and date like men in the 1970s with an an abundance mind set when it comes to dating. However, woman are more depressed and their life expectancy is almost about the same as a man now.
There is no doubt, that this a lesson and karma for women in the western world. The three poisons in Buddhism applies: ignorance, aversion and attachment.

We (many men) don't want to feel awkward and cringe. Also we don't want to make the girl uncomfortable and/or offended or just bother people in general, just to name a few reasons.

Women also aggressively try to ruin a guy's reputation by spreading lies, and rumors about him if they're insulted by the approach

The dangers of failed approaches are extremely downplayed by women

Pretty much. For reference, I've moved like ten times in my life, but all within the Pacific Time Zone (American west coast). So if anything, I imagine Sweden is late to the party on this one.

Allow me to share a cautionary tale; I was recently at my gym, punching random numbers into the flavoured water dispenser in an (ultimately failed) attempt to access the water reserved for those members who pay a higher membership premium. A young man was waiting patiently behind me, and he attempted to engage me in conversation, telling me about a female member he apparently really liked, but was too afraid to approach while glancing longingly at the leg extension where the object of his desires was busy working away.

Suppressing my irritation, but keen to get rid of him, I said: “Why don’t you just go and say ‘hi’ to her - seriously, what is the worst thing that’s going to happen?”

His face lit up with a smile: “You’re right!” he said enthusiastically. “Thanks, I really appreciate your advice.”

Thinking nothing of it, I returned to what I was doing (at that point, under the mistaken impression that I was a single digit away from some free flavoured water) when I was distracted by an almighty commotion; I turned around and saw the young man haplessly flailing as he was wrestled to the floor by three enraged bodybuilders while the woman on the leg extender sobbed uncontrollably. The gym is situated in a retail park with a McDonalds so South Wales Police were on the scene with an uncharacteristic swiftness. Perplexed, I watched a several uniformed men barged into the gym and descended upon the young man, wielding their truncheons with abandon before violently handcuffing him. It was then I realised that other gym members were pointing in my direction and one of the police officers came striding towards me.

“Did you have something to do with this?” he snarled angrily, jabbing his finder at me.

“No officer” I replied with mock innocence. “I was just trying to s…I was just trying to remember my membership number so I could get some flavoured water. That guy did say something about about approaching one of the female members, but I warned him against it, cautioning that women expect to be able to live their lives freely without unwanted male attention.”

The officer eyed me suspiciously for a few moments. “Well I would hope so too”, he eventually replied. “Because if you did encourage him to make a cold approach, that would be a vey serious offence!”

At that moment, his colleges dragged the young man - who by now was now himself sobbing uncontrollably - across the gym floor, through the double doors and into the carpark and an uneasy murmur spread across the gym. I ignored it and went back to trying to crack the code to the flavour water machine, however, the gym suddenly manager appeared. “I know what you did” he said icily.

“I’ve forgotten my membership number-“ I began before he cut me off.

“Not that - the other thing you did” he spat. I then realised that a crowd had gathered around me. “Get out” the manger said coldly. “You are banned from the premises - for life”

Outnumbered, I nodded silently and left the gym for the last time, wishing that I’d just paid that extra £1.99 a month.

I may be wrong because I'm going based on what someone else told me who had lived there briefly, but they made it sound like women in Sweden tended to be pretty aggressive and open in selecting men, often being the ones to make the first move.

In my country men will ask or flirt , maybe a bit much. Hispanics have fire in their veins xD rejection isn't as bad as people think. They say no, say ok respectfully and move on. Whats the problem?

Well as far as guys fearing they won't get in trouble for approaching women in person, I have done it many times and no one's ever gotten me into legal trouble. The only trouble I have gotten is rejection, so could guys be over exaggerating how bad the legal repercussions could be?

I said it before and I'll say it again, cold approach or OLD are not the only ways of meeting women. Times are changing and people not wanting to be approached doesn't mean they don't want to socialize.

Maybe try something else? like friends of friends, traveling, courses, sports, a band, whatever
