(Some) women do get pleasure from PIV and orgasm from it. Also, for men and women, orgasm isn’t the only thing that feels good about sex aka foreplay stuff.

More broadly, I assume women like sex for the same reason men do. I can watch some porn and make myself orgasm more easily than I can from a clumsy blowjob, but I'll still take the clumsy blowjob over my hand any day of the week. Like think about your own experience. Isn't sex better than your hand even if it achieves the same outcome?

Sex is about the total experience, not just having an orgasm. A vibrator isn't going to give her oral, suck her nipples and kiss her neck while she rides on top. A vibrator isn't going to spank her ass or pull her hair while it fucks her from behind. Sure she could watch those things in porn and then just use a vibrator to orgasm, but those two experiences are apples and oranges.

There's also the mutual satisfaction aspect of sex. Masturbation is completely about yourself. Half (or more) of the experience is sex is focused making the other person cum. For me, that aspect is just as much fun. I assume many women feel the same way.

For both men and women, this could for example be due to sex feeling better than masturbation. Also, sex goes way beyond the physical. It is hot / mentally satifying to interact with someone you find attractive in a sexual way, even if it doesn’t neccesarily lead to orgasm.

Penetrative sex, as women themselves say doesn’t seem to offer them pleasure or lead to orgasm.

You’re right that penetrative sex by itself often doesn’t lead to orgasm for women (but for many it is still pleasurable). But sex with men usually doesnt consist only of penetrative sex. It often includes clitoral stimulation before / during / after penetrative sex.

Statistically most women can achieve orgasm from PIV either with:

PIV (duh)
Proper foreplay that includes clitoral stimulation prior to insertion.
Clitoral stimulation during PIV (requires a little multitasking on the guy's part but this can be absolutely mind blowing for her...can be either with his finger or a small vibrator)

Women also (in my experience) enjoy how good it feels, the feeling of emotional intimacy, and if it's done properly the entire experience is pleasurable...sex isn't just about orgasms but also how you get there, and it's fun. While everything is different, it's still pleasurable making out, sucking on each other's tongues, and women love having their breasts and labias played with properly by guys they're attracted to, or any of a million other things she can experience in the context of a sexual relationship.

There's also the whole wanting kids thing, when that comes into play.

The idea that platonic friendships could substitute for sexual relationships is just as dumb to propose for women as it is to propose for men. Non-noteworthy conclusion: Humans enjoy sex.

Well, we haven't evolved to reproduce asexually yet. It's kind of how we, as humans, were designed (something something, Adam's rib). If we didn't, the species would go extinct. It's natural. We seem to forget that these days.
