Pretending to be indifferent will never be the most truly indifferent response, because if you were truly indifferent you wouldn't need to pretend. Indifferent would be not needing to "give them zero ego validation".

The truth is that you felt irritated and condescended. You're trying to deal with those feelings by coming up with a comeback that makes it look like you didn't feel that way. That is not indifference.

In my opinion, indifference would be to let her know exactly how it made you feel. You are fine with whatever feelings you have. You are fine with however she responds to that. You're not responding to win an argument or get a one-up on her so you can look good, you're responding to express your truth, regardless if that makes you look bad. To me, that is indifference. It's not having no emotions. It's having emotions and being ok with whatever they are. It's being ok with however she responds. Bad feeling, good feelings, bad responses, good responses, it doesn't matter. It's all ok.

“No worries! Take care.” Simple, polite and to the point. You dont need a psychological analysis of why. If someone says they don’t want to continue, that is enough reason to walk away. Now, most people aren’t capable of considering that closure, so should you ask why, accept the more in depth answer and go on your way.

You guys who are being bitter need to grow up. A simple reply takes 5 seconds and is basic courtesy.

There are two consideratons for you here: (1) Reputation matters - she might be friends with someone you come across in the future. If you're in a super large city, that doesn't matter as much (or at all). But if you're in school or a moderate sized city, don't be surprised if you get a reputation as a jerk by being bitter. On the other hand, a polite acknowledgement makes you 'safe' in women's eyes. (2) You actually failed, so try to learn from your failures. You learn more from failure than success. You can either ask her for an honest insight from her or else just reflect on it.

Just say "sounds good!" And that's it. Personally, I would actually prefer some type of post-mortem audit where each person can give feedback but I've realized that most people don't want to give nor receive feedback that would make their next dating experience better. Best thing to do is just move on as smoothly and as graciously as possible.

A fucking heart like that one comment suggest shows you're butthurt. No response is immature, which kinda tracks with her not having interest. Those messages are just a polite way of saying you’re not who they thought you'd be... It’s not that it ruins your day, it’s simply a polite way to let you know there’s nothing between you two.

How do you reply? Try to stay detached, make it look like it doesn't phase you at all. Say something like you're glad she told you now rather than later, because you haven't really gotten to know her yet, but if you fell in love first, it would've been a total disaster. Then you can make a joke out of it: "I'l send you 100 messages, call you late at night, drink gasoline and carbide if you ever cheat on me.... what can I say... you just saved me a whole lot of trouble." The point isn't to change her mind, it’s simply to show her that you're having a great day and her answer doesn't bother you at all. It is a such a joke and NEXT, 'No worries!' followed by silence just doesn't look good. It creates a bad vibe for both of you.
