They don’t. You aren’t paying attention to the average matched couples (most of them) because they don’t make it to those stats. Almost everyone is average and ends up with someone who is average.

Because that’s the only way your argument works.

You’re taking cases where a man abused his partner and then declaring he must have been either exceptional or terrible, while arbitrarily excluding the possibility that he was just an average guy who happened to be abusive.

I dated in my social circles. I am a normal average looking woman with a professional career. I dated men who were just around me, who were attracted to me. These men were also totally normal. We both make UMC income, but that’s a result of proximity and social circles.

You don’t see us because we are totally unremarkable and live normal lives. This is a “you” problem.

See, you’re looking at stats for crime that has occurred in relationships. Not stats for whether crime has or has not occurred in relationships. Average men, and the average women who partner them, make up the majority of all relationships.

I doubt that any “extremes” entirely make up the 25% of abusive men in relationships, because that is simply not how statistics works. Just a quick change in search and you will find that it does not matter who women are with, there is always a 1 in 4 chance they’ll be victims of crime.

And if you take the remaining 3 in 4 women in relationships, then shit; it seems the majority “chose” correctly.

Fam, a lot of men; ALL types of men commit atrocities against their partners, and children.

Take Chris Watts for example. He seemed like a normal average guy. Turned out to be a family annihilator. I’m sure Shanann thought he was “the best” when clearly he was not.

Y’all acting like the typical guy can’t be an abuser/killer is wild to me.

Just today, on this sub - there is a post about the “performance” of dating. We all know that people don’t show their true selves until much later - often, after kids. How could Shanann have known what her husband was capable of?

Most women do choose a fairly “average” man. If they didn’t, most women would be single. Going by crime stats is a really strange way to determine who most women choose, since most men don’t commit violent crimes.

Most women date fairly average women. You’re looking at a very specific sample of men committing crimes, and then you wonder why this specific sample doesn’t represent the average.

You're assuming that the men in these crime stats hurting their partners are worse than average instead of just being average. Normal people are more capable of harming someone else than they know.

Most women are average and with average men. If women only chose the extremes, only about 20% of them tops would be married or in a relationship. The majority of women are in a marriage or relationship
