Going from 20 to 40, guys usually lose their hair, women thin out some, but they usually have most of their hair. (hair is important to me, hubby is aware and he knows that at the first sign of hair fallout, he's getting meds).

I agree, but I don't think it's innate or has to do with "feminine" being more attractive. Women on average put more effort into being physically attractive, or the effort they put in is more efficient. Makeup, wearing flattering clothes, even just making sure their hair looks good before leaving the house. As a result I am more likely to take note of a woman's appearance and think she is attractive, even though I'm around more men than women.

If you mean visually appealing, then overwhelmingly yes. There is a lot more pressure socially to look good for women so it will create a pretty big divide. Women are more likely to enjoy shopping and own more clothes than men on average. Throw well done make-up, a nice outfit, and some heels on an average girl and she becomes hottie. However, when you look further past her physical appearance and consider more attractiveness factors men and women are about the same.

I agree with the overall premise, but it has less to do with literal attractiveness than it does with the differences in perception of attractiveness men have vis a vis women.

Most women are sexually attractive to most women.

Most men are not sexually attractive at all to most women.

Only a small number of men (perhaps 25%) are sexually attractive to most women.

Men use a shotgun approach, seeking as many women as possible in the hopes that one will find him attractive. Because men know that most women don't want them.

Women (formerly) used a laser beam approach, concentrating their efforts on a few men they found sexually attractive. They almost always succeeded in getting one of them. Because they know they most definitely will be attractive to some men out there.

I don't think it's necessarily a difference in actual attractiveness; it's more a difference in perception between men and women and how the sexes perceive and use sexual attraction differently.

Do you think this is some kind of major revelation? There is a reason it's called sexual market value. Your value is affected by the market you exist in. If demand is high and supply is low, your value is higher.

OTOH, I somewhat disagree with you. As I've traveled a decent amount, I've been to some countries where the women are much more attractive than they are in the states and funny things start to happen. When an 8 here is only a 6 in that country, the competition with other women is MUCH higher. The women are much more aggressive and much more interested in mate guarding as the men are much more likely to jump ship.

I just don't see that type of environment here where there is an excess supply of attractive women. If anything, the demand greatly outstrips supply. In some of these other country, supply is greater than demand and thus, their value drops.

Women put more effort into their appearance on average but also the fact that society sexualizes and idealizes women's bodies probably puts more emphasis on the female figure and makes everyone notice it more.

If man ass was more centralized in the media, I think people would spend more of their day thinking about it (even straight guys) and thus be more aware of it in other people. It's not so much that men are less attractive, more that we as a society just don't pay much attention to their physical attributes

Blue Pill myth of the century. The OP is right in a place like the Balkans (women are far better looking than the men), but in the Anglosphere (USA, UK, etc) the try-hard men are better looking on average than the slob , chunky , average looking women.

Yeah. Completely agree. Like vastly more, it isn't even close. Men are FAR, FAR, less picky in this regard than women. Men consider probably 70% of young, thin women attractive. Women consider 80% of men below average and only the top 5% of men truly attractive. The fact is that men need to work very hard to make themselves attractive.

I doubt that. I'd agree because of my bias, but I doubt that due to reason. An average woman is attractive to most men, an average man is attractive to some women.

One has to consider the amount of work required for the average woman to be appealing on a level that isn't just "I'd fuck that.". Whereas the average man doesn't really do anything to look average.

Women are also non-threatening. An average woman can still trigger a desire to protect. An average man can always be seen as a threat.

As for aging. "No data on this, but it's obvious." Women become less valuable to the species as they age. We can easily observe that men age better than women, but from an evolutionary perspective, indicators of a bad mating choice are very helpful.

Men tend to really get hit by aging around the point that their ability to provide resources is greatly diminished, while women tend to get hit by aging around the point that their ability to provide genetic material diminishes.
