this is a tough one. as other people have said, they are quite literally entitled to dress how they please in the USA, that's in no way a problem. What they are not entitled to is a world in which people are not allowed to speak negatively about them, including their clothing choices.

On one hand it seems petty to give a shit how people dress, I certainly don't, but I am reminded of an interview I saw with Milo Yanowhatever when asked about his comments toward the black chick from ghostbusters: "WHAT? A gay guy, catty? I've certainly never heard of that before!"

I think both the man who felt compelled to write to the newspaper about yoga pants, and the people who then felt compelled to march against him, both have an awful lot of time on their hands.

However, I fail to see how this connects directly to a fat acceptance movement. The picture in the article shows a mix of fat and skinny, male and female. No one seems to be saying they want to feel beautiful in their yoga pants - they just want to wear them without comment.

Even by linking to this article, we are giving the whole issue entirely too much attention.

1 & 2: it comes off as women not wanting to be constantly judged by what they are wearing more than anything else. How many editorials in local newspapers do you think there are about how tacky men dress and what we should ban them from wearing?

there are always exceptions, but from what i can tell in general, they don't want people to think fat people are beautiful, they just want to be left the hell alone about their bodies and what they're wearing.

The fact they called it "Peaceful Pants Protest" tells me lots of the women weren't intending for it to be taken too seriously. A joke protest seems like a perfectly appropriate response to a joke letter.

However the death threats were obviously over the line, and tell me at least some of the protesters seriously had their yoga pants in a bunch. Fashion is supposed to be fun! I would even argue it's supposed to be controversial - if everyone approves of what you're wearing, then you're probably dressing like a basic bitch. They should stop taking it so seriously.

Women are outraged because there is never actually an age limit on clothes that fit or clothes that don't fit to be honest. A person can choose their own clothes regardless of age. It doesn't prove what you are assuming.
If anything this supports age acceptance as girls under 20 can also be obese. It is definitely more about age than weight. You put the weight skew on it with your title.
I wouldn't personally protest for something as stupid as a comment as that as I know it is ridiculous and shouldn't be taken seriously. However, I don't think they are being entitled. They are just doing something pointless.

I think a few things about this article.

Nice that it seems to have been peaceful and even productive for charitable purposes.

People will send death threats about anything. It's disgusting no matter the context and those who do it should be ashamed.

His free speech sign shows he, like most people, don't understand that the first amendment applies only to the government and there is no protection from criticism by citizens or response by private entities and employers. However, as before, I don't condone violent language.

Nothing in this refers to beauty, so discussing it in the context to this gathering seems off mark. Nor was there, as far as I saw, any reference to fat acceptance. So putting those themes on the protest without some actual sign it was part of it is, in essence, putting words into their mouths.

I wouldn't consider them entitled by default. Not wanting to be made the butt of someone's joke isn't what I'd call entitled.

Lastly, jokes don't always go over well. I'm curious just how he put it in the overall context of his entire submission.

I don't think they'd openly say this. However that is the general acceptance. The fact they like to harp on plus sized models is very telling on the matter.
Probably quite a few of them. Others are probably just people looking to contribute to a "good cause". I'd not be shocked if man haters would have been there because a man shouldn't be telling women what to do. Of course depending on how you want to put it you can spin it as they're just entitled.

I think it is more fat acceptance than anything. A hot, slim 40 year old still looks pretty good in yoga pants despite obviously not being a spring chicken.

The guy said that he is openly gay so it isn't like he is sexually attracted to 20yo females anyways. It seems to give support to his other claim that it was intended as humor.

Just looking at the picture i can see there are women who are clearly not fat. I don't know why you said obese and old in the title, quite a few of them look somewhere in their 30's.
Not necessarily. Yes. I'd definitely say that anyone who can start a protest because they were offended by something someone non-violently said is privileged , but not necessarily entitled. Maybe a good amount of them, or all of them, or only a few, but not necessarily.

The assumptions OP made brings me back to this little theory I had before, that most if not all redpillers are that way because they have a very low EQ, not being able to understand women's intentions in doing certian things, which leads to making assumptions about it

They are marching in front of and sending death threats to an openly gay guy in a nice neighborhood to protest a jokey editorial in a local newspaper. Nobody is in danger of life or liberty but these women don't have anything better to do on a Sunday than get their feelings hurt and overreact to something. I would bet money they self-congratulated themselves by wolfing down their daily recommended caloric intake at one meal in a restaurant afterwards.
