People are attracted to what they're attracted to. BBM porn doesn't really exist because men in porn are rarely attractive in any way regardless of weight, and those of us vag owners who watch porn are more likely to be looking for specific situations than caring about the appearance of those involved. I can only think of one male porn star I find attractive and he is older, a bit round in the middle, and mostly bald. I find chubby guys attractive in real life frequently.

I agree that the way extra weight is proportioned out often looks better on women. Fat men often suffer from the dreaded chicken leg syndrome unless they're lucky or they put some work into leg-day.

The said, obese women seem to suffer a lot on the dating market too. Article citing old study showing that fat women are 20% less likely to marry while fat men are 11% less likely to and a French study focused on sexual health that also mentions how often fat men and women got laid

So, there are various indicators fat women, still have a good amount of options for dating, and a fat fetish among men, for fat women, is quite common, compared to the opposite. the BBW genre is one of the most popular porn genres, while BBM, or big beautiful men, does not exist. Now, the question is why?

I think that what you are saying is true, but that there is a wider allowance for overweight men (no pun intended). As in, they aren't seen as overweight until they are obese because fat can hide as muscle for a long time. Where as for women the overweight threshold is lower, but they can be seen (by some) as attractive DESPITE being overweight.

I mean from a biological perspective it makes sense. For the majority of human history birthing and rearing the next generation has been arguably THE top priority, cuz that's how biology do in terms of ensuring a species' evolution and survival.

I mean lets be real, making mini humans is HARD. The act itself is pretty easy but the incubation period is a nightmare, not to mention the birth itself.

So a woman able to successfully incubate and birth a genetic blend of her and a male, and raise said child to reproductive age, is gonna have a few needed characteristics:

The ability to conceive a child. This doesn't really depend much on size and BMI however it should be noted that if a woman gets too thin or has a medical problem, her menstrual cycle is thrown all out of whack due to inadequate ability to form the uterine lining, sometimes stopping menstruation entirely. So, a sickly woman isn't gonna be a good candidate.
The ability to carry the pregnancy. Babies take a lot of energy to grow, which is why pregnant women often gain weight during pregnancy and "eat for two," not to mention cravings based both on hormones and the need for certain nutrients for the child's development. Since making a baby takes a lot of calories, a woman that is slightly overweight has a nutrient stockpile at the ready should their be a slight famine that threatens the health of the fetus. It's an insurance policy of sorts.
The ability to give birth. If a woman's hips aren't wide enough, the birth canal will be too narrow for the child to pass through vaginally. Nowadays we have sterile, safe c-sections but in the past this wasn't the case. So a woman that has wider hips likely has a wider birth canal; overweight women also tend to gain weight in their hips which can also create the illusion of a wider birth canal via padded hips and butt.
The ability to nurse the child. Formula is a new invention. For thousands of years boobs have been the go-to for a child's nutrition for at least their first year of life. Breasts with adequate mammary ducts and tissues will allow the baby to feed, and a larger breast is slightly easier to latch onto. Breastfeeding also needs a lot of calories as well, so overweight women with a fat "stockpile" would be more likely to be able to feed the child in times of famine, drought or other hardship.

In total we get the picture of a woman with slight advantages in terms of birthing and raising a child: a slightly-to-moderately overweight woman with larger hips and breasts, able to conceive, carry, birth and rear a child.

Perhaps this is wired into the brains of men, the "lizard brain" part quietly signaling that a moderately overweight woman, though not his physical ideal, would be a good candidate to birth and raise his child. That's just a theory though.

It also might have a sociological aspect. For the majority of history in many cultures being overweight was a sign of wealth, since one could afford to eat enough to gain weight and was of high enough status that one didn't have to work off said extra pounds in the fields. This is depicted in ancient art as well as many Renaissance paintings and more contemporary 17th and 16th century portraits. It's only within the last 150 years or so a cultural shift has occurred to place thinness as a sign of wealth and status. Nowadays, especially in the US, BMI and social status tend to have an inverse trend, with lower classes getting fatter due to lack of education on health as well as the cheap, unhealthy foods they eat, unable to afford much in terms of fresh greens and fruits.

TL;DR: Overweight women may have more options due to lizard brain signals in men that they are more fit to carry and raise children; sociological aspects carried over from previous generations may also apply.

You're trying to extrapolate trends from porn to trends in dating. I don't think these are relatable.

1) BBW porn is more prolific than porn featuring fat men because the majority of porn consumers are straight men.

I think this is only true to a certain degree. Yes, women need more body fat than men for optimal health and fertility. And yes, gaining some weight can enhance a woman's feminine hourglass figure.

But, when women (or men) gain too much weight, you have the opposite effect. All the extra fat obscures their feminine figure, and obese men/women take on a more androgynous look (the same thing happens when people are very underweight). Obesity also fucks with women's hormones - obese women have higher levels of testosterone than normal-weight women.

So yes, if a skinny woman gains 20 pounds and most of that weight goes to her boobs/ass, she's going to look more feminine, and lots of guys (not even necessarily chubby chasers) will still find her attractive. But if a woman gains 100 pounds, she's not going to have an hourglass figure anymore, probably has worse health/fertility than a thin woman, and the only people who'll want to date/fuck her are the fat fetishists, and men with no other options.

Your theories are probably correct but like gainzndamez said you have forgotten the main factor, men are thirsty and pathetic. So just a quick reminder for anyone who doesn't get it.
