I don't consider myself either red or blue.

I'm not a big fan of the idea of sex work in general, but I think that it's better when it's legalized and regulated than when it's on the black-market. However I strongly disagree with certain sexist half-measure approaches towards legalizing it where selling your services is legal but buying them isn't, which is the so-called Nordic Model. It's legalizing the position more often taken by women, while criminalizing the position much more often taken by men.

I think legal and regulated sex work would be safer for those involved. I see legalizing sex work as a way to generate revenue and we are running out of revenue streams in the US so sex and drugs are about the only things left. I am BP.

I'm fine with the idea of sex work; I'm much less fine with how sex work has tended to be in practice.

Legal, regulated sex work where sex workers were helped remain clean, remain healthy, and remain independent (without being coerced into sex work or being owned by pimps) would be great, it would help sexually frustrated young men and it might help destigmatize female control of their sexuality. I'd be all for that.

What we currently have in the US though? That's pretty much slavery, way too much coercion and abuse going on.

To echo what others have said: pro-sex work, pro-regulation to make it safe for all participants, making it illegal is a remnant of a far bygone era.

But I don't think knowing people's pills on this will necessarily indicate anything. Reddit in general is a pretty liberal place when it comes to sex and there are a lot of good reasons from both the red and blue pill perspective for sex work to be legal.

Unaffiliated. I have no interest in the sex trade, but as long as it's carefully regulated, anyone who wants that sort of work should be allowed. You just have to make sure its not exploitative.

It's legal on the grey market here in the UK, escorts can sell their services without breaking the law as long as they aren't explicitly soliciting sex. You're technically "paying for their time." Few of my friends are in that business. It's legit enough that they can even register as self-employed and pay taxes.

I see nothing wrong with this industry being legal at all, but proper regulation rather than a grey market is preferable to ensure the safety of the workers, and to make sure there's no trafficking going on in the darker side of the industry.

When backed by the government or done legally, prostitution is a fantastic thing for everyone involved.

I used to live in Singapore for a few years doing work. It's an incredibly wealthy country, and prostitution is legal there. In fact, it is directly funded by the government, and the owners of brothels are technically employed by the state. There are regular health inspections, safety protocols put in place, and the women working in these establishments have valid work visas and are paying taxes.

The result is that sex crime in Singapore is almost zero. Men who are desperate for sex simply go to Geylang and pay $50 for a sexual release, feel great, and go about their lives. The ladies are happy. They are taken care of and many freelancers live extremely comfortable lives before going back to their home countries with enough money to buy their own houses.

I honestly have not heard of a single country where prostitution is legal and things are bad for sex workers as a whole. People look at countries like Thailand, but I suppose they are not aware prostitution isn't legal there either...only very loosely enforced.

So long as both parties are of legal age it shouldn't be the business of government to attempt to prohibit it.

At the least, tolerance zones should be constructed in major cities so that people can engage in a safe, sane, and legal activity that billions of people engage in every single day.

Keeping it illegal is what makes sex work dangerous to begin with. Get assaulted by a prostitute? Can't report it. Prostitute gets assaulted? Can't report it. Disease is spread around, drug use is more rampant and the police force can't really stop it completely. It is a perpetual cycle.

Now, if you were to legalize it and regulate sex work to adhere to specific standards, like Nevada, you would reduce disease. Nevada Prostitution law states that condom use is mandatory, the prostitutes are required weekly to be tested for STDs/STI. It would create a safer environment for clients and the sex worker at brothels. It would free up work for Police, it would kill the black market for sex work.

"Blue Pill" as it is relevant here, and I am 100% in favor of adults who freely choose to do sex work- I think their professions should be safe, regulated, and fully legal. I am equally opposed to any kind of exploitation of anyone, certainly minors under any circumstances but also coercion of disadvantaged adults, and think that anyone using someone else for sex work without due compensation or against their freely given consent deserves harsh criminal penalties. No one should profit from someone else's sex work without providing for them the way an employer is expected to under law.

Blueish purple. Absolutely pro any type of decriminalization. First and foremost because I believe in occupational self-determination. Also, regulations don't harm the many black sheep one bit, and instead sabotage the wrong people. The majority of sexworkers may work under abysmal conditions, but so does the majority of seamsters, and I don't see anyone trying to close down tailor shops. One exception: I do think protection for everything but oral should be mandatory.

I don't see why it should be prohibited, because I don't think it is the role of the state to regulate the voluntary behaviour of adults unless it causes harm to others.

Now, it can criminalize issues with trafficking, blackmail, minors, zoning, etc. But it's not the role of the state to tell me I can't pay an adult for sex, and a woman that she can't accept it.

I think it should be legalised with protections given to the people involved in it and laws against "pimping". I personally wouldn't indulge in it because I kind of like women I sleep with to have some emotional connection but I don't condemn.

I personally offer non-judgemental healthcare to sex workers in rural India. Not for long though, planning to specialise in a surgical field and it's unlikely that I would continue my work when I sell out.

I do however think we need to fight sexual slavery to the harsh extent of the law.

I believe in freedom so if someone wants to work in the sex industry I have no problem with it as long as they are of age and fully informed about what they're getting into.

I think sex work should be legal and regulated so that workers are protected by the law so that underage people can be kept out, sex trafficking/slavery will be discouraged and it will be harder to exploit workers and easier to prevent STDs from spreading.

Black pill; sympathetic to red pill but probably more anti blue pill than anything else.

I have no problem with sex work in theory, but its reputation for having associations with organized crime seems to give a certain taint to the industry. As businesses go, I don't think their standards and practices would qualify them for the Better Business Bureau.

Even where it's legal, there always seems to be a certain veneer of "sleaze" attached to it. Even on the internet, visiting a sex site can be hazardous, as they tend to be unsafe, with a lot of spyware, pop-ups.

I saw a documentary on Netflix called "Hot Girls Wanted," and it's about how young women are recruited into the booming "amateur porn" business. At the beginning, it shows these girls starting out, naively thinking they're the center of the universe and that they're really going to make it big in Hollywood. Yet after a few months, they really hated it and thought it was really awful. Most wanted out after a few months.

Purple pill. I think buying sexual interaction or sexual photos is gross. Yeah I know a lot of terps, MRAs etc object to that judgment, I don't care that you do. I think the illegality or not of selling sex should be decided based upon utility to everyone who is neither buyer or seller, and I'm not sure what offers best utility at this point. Making it illegal reduces certain problems for those of us who aren't directly involved, making it legal reduces other problems for those of us not directly involved. Buyers and sellers don't count and shouldn't count cos ya'll gross y'hear.

I'm fine with the writing of smutty prose for sale though, it just seems different.
