I was listening to the new Weeknd song ‘Heartless’ and this line stuck out to me. You could brush off the meaning as just a song and not reflective of his sexual strategy or attitudes, but what is the fun in that? I think it’s pretty insightful.

To his own admission, he keeps girls around by selling them lies when their guard is down. Freely using and selling these women false dreams because he is heartless.

A few thoughts on this. You see some bloops claim that this type of asshole heartless game doesn’t work, full stop. Alternatively I see them state that this type of game is unethical. Yet it seems to me that it works, is quite ubiquitous in even non-famous men and used by famous men to keep women around.

Q4Women: have you ever been sold false dreams or hopes by men? Or have you ever seen your girlfriends fall for this?

Q4Men: have you ever sold false hopes and dreams to get laid or keep girls around?

Ethics aside, can we all agree that this strategy is ubiquitous, not only for “low value men,” and is furthermore effective?
