This has been posted about eleventy billion times in this forum.

All people think all people are most attractive in their early to mid-twenties. (Generally speaking).

People are at their peak at that age.

When people think of the most attractive specimens of their gender of their choice, they are most likely to imagine someone in their 20s.

In terms of relationships, women have considerations that men either don't have or don't think of as much - loss of income while raising kids, pregnancy, children, family life etc etc, so they tend to go for men their own age or a little older. Men don't have the same considerations in life, and they are more free to try to pursue young women. The men who don't care as much about family life will tend to try for very young women, and will do anything to increase their income to have a chance at securing young women.

For the reasons above, women don't tend to seek very young men for relationships. But they are still sexually attracted. Many women read erotic/hot romance novels - and the man in these novels will almost always be very young and very physically attractive.

Attraction and prefer to date are different.

Men are overall hottest between 20-24 as well in my opinion, but I don’t want to date men that age.

That is not the only criteria that men use when it comes to prefering someone for a long stable relationship or a family though.

But if you want the best possible argument for preffering women from age 20-24 I can say to you that anything that an older woman brings to the table a young woman will be able to bring eventually because all women get old.

On the other hand an older woman is unable to bring the things younger women bring to the table because no woman gets younger with time.

Dunno about other guys, but even though I find women in that age range objectively more attractive aesthetically speaking, most women that age just aren’t all that mature. I’d probably find myself getting annoyed unless they were quite mature for their age.

Can’t speak for all men, but looks-wise? Yes. Personality-wise? No. The younger they are, the more immature they tend to be and don’t know what they want yet, so they’re very influenceable, and this makes them more vulnerable to getting used by older guys for sex.

No, I have always preferred women to be slightly older than me. I don't find wrinkles unattractive. Long hair and being fit are the only age-related factors for attractiveness for me and these are largely controllable.

I'm 21 and have been hit on by men as old as like 50, especially when I'm alone. I don't count men much older than that because dementia.

With older men however the vibe was less "I'm looking for a long-term partner" and more "I've been divorced multiple times and have zero interest in being serious with anyone again, much less you." For a young lady who only needs some money and maybe a good time I guess it's not a bad deal.

Not all, but the great majority of men prefer women around 20-25.

A bit younger on third world countries or in poorer/less fortunate conditions. Women beauty is very affected by their living environments.

A bit older on richer communities or particularly rich countries.

Tough lives make women beauty begin to deteriorate between 17-20 years old. Likewise, easier lives, some beauty treatments, and surgery may make some women only beginning to deteriorate around 25-35.

But as a rule of thumb, it is 20-25.

Is a hot young thing better than a woman around your own age?

To fuck? the young one, no doubt. She is probably hotter.

To relationship? None. But the one my age win just slightly, if I do not have the option of evading relationships altogether.

Objectively most attractive, probably, yes. When I was in my post-marriage "tear" I was slumming with a few women 20 years my junior. But the age range was too much of a stretch even then, and now, would be insurmountable.

Men might find women in that age group most attractive, but that doesn't mean they'd necessarily pursue women that age over women who are older, aka closer to their own age.

HOWEVER, most couples seem to have a male who is a bit older. 2-3 years in younger ages and 5-6 years in married couples (30's). Many women come out of corporate ladder climbing looking to find their equals (40's) are going after women in their early thirties. They obviously forgot then went for older guys in THEIR 20's and 30's. But now, at 40, it seems like some sort of injustice.

Thus is the nature of female solipsism.

I'm 31 and women my age can still be very attractive to me, but I know that when I'm 50 I'll definitely find 24 year old women more attractive than 50 year old women, that's just biology. There are lots of reasons not to date a 24 year old woman when you're a much older man (assuming you would even have that opportunity), but physically those young women will always be the most attractive to us.

I imagine it's a bit less pronounced for women but that at the end of they day a 60 year old woman will physically prefer a 40 year old man over a 60 year old man as well.

Basically as one of the older guys on PPD, yes physically 20-25 year olds are the hottest assuming they didn't have kids and are in shape. That age the body is screaming for pregnancy so to speak and they are supposed to be the hotest if genetics has anything to say.

This is a side note but for those of us who didn't in fact have a lot of relationships, steady, fwbs and otherwise but do a hell of a lot better entering our 30's. the worst relationship choice is someone who looks for a settled relationship asap, want to start discussing having children after but a few months of dating (biological clock ticking!) and certainly move together quite soon. This describes a lot of women in their thirties.

Another factor can be that a lot of these women and the ones older still, are very ambitious, not just in their careers but in how they want their home life to be like. I already mentioned children but add expectations on pooling two economies into a sizable house, with garden (which needs constantly looking after), lots of time consuming activities which give status. both for the two of you and for the very much expected kids. You can go into that relationship and count yourself lucky if you get one hour all to yourself every day in your man cave. Most likely you're going to be dubbed the baby man for failing to keep up, despite your best effort. So why even go into that situation?

Now the younger girl. Sure, she has some long term plans but for now she's happy trying out various things and mainly have quality times together. There will be time to see it all develop more gradually until we're convinced we want the same thing. If not, well there's a whole lot less stake in the necessary breakup then.

Yes, there's a problem on the part of men assuming too much without making an informed opinion about individual peer age women and older. There's some fantastically easy going (low demand) post-20's women too, but they are fewer in numbers.

A lot of women get increasingly demanding as they grow older and it is of course their right to set their own preferences. Best we can do on the male side is to make up our mind about our own deal breakers and expectations and then be very firm about it. Doing so meets some resistance and you get shamed for being lazy, unambitious and stubborn for not accepting someone into your life who knows what's best for you. :)

The question about youth, looks and health does play in, but it isn't the whole picture. I think that often it is not actually the most relevant thing here. It certainly wasn't for me.

Being that I’m 22, 20-25 seems to be my age range. I’ve always went for women around my age though. But being that I have a younger sister (currently 20) dating women younger than her seemed awkward. Older women 25 and up typically show less interest being that at that point they want a man with an established career, and that’s not me being that I’m still in college with no clear direction. So naturally, going older isn’t feasible in my case.

As one poster said this before, this is based on pure physical looks for the men. Generally, when someone asks us to picture the hottest woman ever, we think of someone in that 20-24 range. For most men, a women's job, college degrees, salary and other factors women find attractive dont do much for us, they dont take away or add any attraction. You are projecting what women find attractive onto men.

I'm married, love my life and my wife, but I can also acknowledge women who are more attractive then her (physically) all over the place, and they are always younger. They are worth a quick look and that's about it. And that's okay, there are plenty of better looking men them me around as well. That's life. My wife is chill as fuck and likes to be home as much as I do, so I'm not swapping her out.

Women generally want someone who is around their age or a bit older, and they think of the whole picture then just physical looks when asked which age range is the most attractive.

It depend on what you are looking for. If you just want to have fun without any other goal yeah 20-24 is good at any decent age. If you are afraid of dying alone and want to leave with somebody to construct something maybe having kids to leave a trace on Earth you choose a woman if your age because there are greater chance she has been through the same thing as you etc and being more mature to construct a relationship. But beware of the hypergamia.

Most women want to have a public relationship with someone within their own age range (a few years older or younger). However, a little known fact I discovered years ago: among women age 18-24, about 30% (this is anecdotal) would never think of dating a guy over 29 (they think it’s gross or creepy); however, about 30% in this age group really, really want men MUCH older (sometimes 20 or 30 years older, as long as the guy is fit, tall and attractive), not for a long term relationship but to fulfill a fantasy. Visually maybe but I am friends with a lot of guys I have never had romantic relationships with (meaning there’s no reason to lie to me) and almost none of them (I’m in my 30s and so are most of them) would even consider dating or pursuing someone in their early 20s. Doesn’t mean they don’t think 24 year olds are hot, but they think the idea of dating one is awful. I’d say one or two might fuck one but most of them wouldn’t even do that because they know “what 24 year olds are like.”

My answer would be depends.

Looks wise purely the answer would be a resounding "fuck yeah".

Thing is most guys would rather have someone their age and grow old together.

Thing is that most people won't help build each other up and grow together but rather wait for the final product which is sad.

So if I grew old with someone my age or slightly younger then no I would not think that way as I assume would be in love with current partner considering we are together.

But if I were a 30+ bachelor then I would never look at a 30 something woman as a potential relationship prospect.
