So yesterday I stepped out to the grocery store to get supplies. I've recently lost a bit of weight during this self-isolation period and I took this time to glow up. My skin, hair and nails were on point, my confidence was high, I had on a really cute sundress and I felt really good. I had been eating clean for three months and thought I'd spoil myself with some treats.

After shopping, I hauled the grocery cart to my car to unload my stuff . A guy pulled up beside me on the parking lot and I noticed he stayed in his car for a while before getting out. When he did, I was unloading my ice-cream and macarons, minding my own damned business when he looked at my stuff and said "yeah a girl like you shouldn't be having that" and cackled like he had said the world's funniest joke. I was stunned and spun around to glare at him and make sure I had heard correctly. He saw my expression and still smiling he said "oh, don't get me wrong. You're literally good as you are and you should keep it that way. I'm just trying to say an extra pound would ruin that". He was still smiling, thinking he was engaging in a light-hearted, humorous conversation with me. I was really shocked, mostly at his audacity. Like what made him think that I needed his unsolicited advice? I was so mad and I didn't even know what to say. And the fact that he thought he was being funny made me even madder.

I totally ignored him, put the rest of my stuff away and went to return the cart. This scrote had the audacity to follow me and tendered what I imagined was an apology when he saw I wasn't having any of his "jokes". He then said: "I apologize that came out the wrong way, I was only joking. I was just trying to compliment a really pretty girl. You should really learn to take a joke." before darting into the store. I wished I had cussed him out at that point but I am naturally gentle mannered and I hate confrontation. I just got into my car and went back home.

Would you believe I got home and threw my treats away? Like I don't know why, but I just felt so crushed. My confidence had been whittled. I hate the fact that I allowed a random, unimportant male make me feel that way. I was feeling so good about my body but now I'm beginning to see so many flaws and lose the confidence I was able to gain these past 3 months.

Honestly, people should learn to bridle their tongues because they dont know the impact of their words to people. To them it might be a harmless little joke but to the subject of the jokes, it could weight really heavy on them.

I need y'all to please talk to me and get me out of this melancholy.
