It's not about the money, it's about the investment. I can buy myself nice dinners if I want, I don't need to trick a man into buying me fancy food against his will. But if a man does not demonstrate investment in a woman while dating (either through an investment of money on a nice date or an investment of time on a very thoughtful/well-planned date) then it is not wise to continue dating him. If a man sees a woman as cheap and easy entertainment, then he will not respect her. It's not about the money. I'm not entitled to a random dude's money. But by the same token, if said random dude wants me to go on low-effort dates with him he is not entitled to my time and attention. Because I know those low-effort dates will not lead to a respectful, healthy relationship.

My husband had known that I was struggling with money when we met so when we lived together he never asked me to pay bills just rent. Still I offered to help with bills if he needed it. But he was a man who understood what its like to struggle and he was very sympathetic towards me.
