I was knee deep into the anime community growing up. Starting at 9, I was constantly obsessed with anime and I would watch any show I could get my hands on. As I got older, around 10, I started to read and watch hentai. At that age I was so unaware of how awful hentai was and how awful most animes are as well. I couldn’t see it at the time but with retrospect I was exposed to hentai that had elements of incest, r**p, abuse in general, and CP in it. These things occur at an alarming frequency so it wasn’t just a one off thing.

I wanted to over look these things and try to keep enjoying anime and wanting to find a guy who also liked anime. That was until one of the most famous anime Youtubers came out and literally made a video in favour of not banning hentai, in particular he defended r**p and lollie hentai(CP).

He actually put out a reaction video of him watching a very famous hentai, the hentai in question was CP and was basically trending as a badge of honour if you could watch the whole thing. That’s how messed up the anime community is that, as a young teenager watcher of anime, influential anime promoters who had a young demographic were encouraging watching hentai CP as a challenge...

I was appalled and disgusted at the video of him defending hentai but what disturbed me even more was all the people in the comments agreeing with him.

His argument was that because it wasn’t real people it was ok to depict these things as it should be protected as an art form...

Like this guy was comparing art to disgusting hentai.

Lesson well learned, I now will never date a guy who likes anime or especially if he watches hentai.

Hadn’t seen any posts on this yet so thought I’d share my experience to bring awareness to this especially since this sub is already against regular p**n.

Edit: Just wanted to clarify that I’m not against anyone watching anime that doesn’t involve these problematic subject matter. My point was that the anime community is very toxic against women and that hentai is something that shouldn’t be supported or defended.

In my personal experience most guys who are into anime are also LVM, but that’s not to say all are.

Everyone has different standard and due to bad past experiences I don’t think I’ll be getting into a relationship with a guy who is a serious anime fan because I feel it’s too much of a risk for me personally.

Edit 2: So I think I need to clarify something after listening to today’s podcast.

Male anime watchers are totally different than female anime watchers.

Male anime watchers consume problematic content made for them that is anti-women, promotes abusive behaviour, and creates content that is out right wrong and should be illegal.

All those in the comments talking about normal anime don’t see that anime as a whole is the issue. This mindset is just like how men want to say not all p**n is problematic and should be supported for that small minority of unproblematic content.

Anime as a whole, in my opinion, should not be supported as it has proved time and time again to be harmful to women and promote abuse.
