This is what Trudeau and other ivory tower dwelling elites fail to understand. They assume these men have the luxury of not working those jobs, that their goal is not to fend for their family but to subjugate women. It is the exact opposite, they make sacrifices for their job largely because of the women (and men) in their life. It is such a joke that they even think identity politics comes into it, as though any of that matters to your average construction work.

And do women even want to work in construction? What does it say about our society that we want to put more women in danger? So you give them all the cushy construction jobs because of their sex to make it 50:50, is that fair to men? What happens when they are too old or injured to be laborers? Out of touch and idiotic is all I can say about this agenda. They are only interested in winning votes, they couldn't give a damn about the working class. This is one of the reasons why Trump won, in spite of his faults at least he understood these people enough to not try and peddle the social justice BS towards them.

I’ve worked in a blue collar trade for well more than a decade. Sara Wheale is speaking about her experiences in a different trade, in a different country. But the culture of the blue collar crowd is very much the same. Genuine kind people, always that one dickhead. But everybody knows he is a dickhead, and avoids him. Watch “dirty jobs”, the same is displayed. People who love to laugh, are generous with their time and resources, will teach you all they know, and want to see you do well. Guess how many times I have seen construction workers cat call women...? Zero. Guess how many dudes I’ve worked with who would call out the bad behavior...? Almost all of them. A couple guys I worked with were doing night work out of town. A woman crashed her car in front of them, my old coworkers pulled her from the overturned car and stayed with her until emergency services arrive. I’m proud of Sara for standing up for her principles.

It's a start but notable she did it because she knows these people personally. She put up with it til he went after her male friends and family members. This is pretty common. It's like many women think you can't be sexist if you've got male friends and stick up for them, but tolerate and push all other men getting fucked over, because they can't put two and two together and recognize this hurts their male friends and family too when others do it to them.

As a general rule, I hate the term 'virtue signaling'. It seems that whether one is on the left or right, they have virtues that they hold and that they promote. When the left raises concern for the virtues that they hold important, some (and I stres some) on the right drop this 'virtue signaling' comment to dismiss the values of the other side.

Meanwhile the woman who quit is herself expressing the values and virtues that she holds important, and that is legitiamate, but people on the left don't say 'oh... she's just virtue signaling'. Though frankly speaking, the term 'virtue signaling' can be applied with equal accuracy to both sides.

But such dismissive dog whistles create antagonistic binaries and alienate both sides rather than promoting an open discourse.

Looking at what Trudeau said is important for this:
“Even big infrastructure projects, you know, might now say, well, what does a gender lens have to do with building this new highway or this new pipeline or something? Well, you know, there are gender impacts when you bring construction workers into a rural area. There are social impacts because they’re mostly male construction workers. How are you adjusting and adapting to those?”

These are great questions. But they are questions. He is not saying that the impact is either good or bad, but simply asking "What is the impact." I completely understand how somebody might take that to be an implication that there are negative impacts, but it does not overtly suggest that.

The young woman who quit referred to these a "negative comments". But what was negative about the question? How does she quantify that these comments were negative?

To me, the issue is Trudeau's vagueness. Sure... it's a fine question, but that's all it is. As a leader, he needs to provide answer and direction. What does he think the impact is and how does he address it. People respond by suggesting they have concern that if a workforce doesn't have enough of a certain population that the government will step in Those are legit concerns because Trudeau is being vague as fuck (intentionally if you ask me) and he needs to clarify his point instead of trying to earn points.

But I hear people on the right ask similar questions. 'What will be the impact of immgrants and refugees entering our coutnry?' This is analagous to asking 'What will be the impact if a large population of men enter a community?' Yet when people on the right ask that, other people on the right don't say "You guys are just virtue signaling."

In general, we need to hold ourselves accountable and to the same standard that we hold others to, otherwise our discources will just turn into finger pointing.
