Gilmore Girls - Rory with Jess, Rory with Logan, and Rory with Dean the second time around (I think Dean was decent while they were in high school but he went NV when he cheated on his wife with Rory).

Rory and Paris had a better relationship than any of the boys/men Rory was with.

Television and movies very, very rarely show healthy relationships. If one shows up in a show you know one of them is either going to die or get cancer by the end of the season.

Bad relationships create drama and drama is interesting.

"My So-Called Life" I liked the show but said that if she said 'Jordan Catalano' one more time I wouldn't watch it again. She said 'Jordan Catalano' right after and I turned it off.

Her crush was annoying and mostly accurately played except that the plot seemed to favor her getting together with him.

My main problem was why she had to say his whole name not just his first name. Baffling.

Smallville - Clark and Lana, even though Clark can pretty much excuse his lvm behaviour on kryptonite or saving someone or hiding his secret, Lana doesn't know any of that and still comes back for more! I like her but she's a Pick-Me.

I was watching an episode of Reba last night and Brock (Reba’s ex-husband on the show - who cheated on her with his dental hygienist, Barbara Jean, got her pregnant, and divorced Reba and married Barbara Jean in a few months) was telling his son-in-law Van to make sure the set the bar low for Valentine’s Day so he can skate by in future years. He complained that he did something really thoughtful and romantic for Reba when they first started dating and was never able to top it, and even though Reba said nothing, he knew she was always disappointed. The whole episode was so gross.

The Alienist - Sarah and John. Literally the first or second scene of the first episode is John at a brothel, giving women pennies to have sex with him. He eventually stops using prostitutes when he develops feelings for Sarah (sweet /s) but still, John is literally a John. They also have an age gap, and he says he remembers her when she was a young child (ew). Then, he has sex with her outside of marriage, in an era when that could literally ruin a woman's life if it was found out. But in the series they are portrayed as a passionate couple who bring out the best in one another. She is way too good for him.

Edit to add: he aso cheats on his fiancee with Sarah, and has sex with his fiancee before marrying her too, again exposing a woman to potential ruin for the sake of his dick

The OG Gossip Girl- Any pairing on that show. Any character on that show in a relationship. Except for Dorota and Vanya. They’re only sane couple and non toxic couple.

Oh my god, I’m doing a zoom reading of this in a few weeks (I’m a fate, I’m excited) and this was my thoughts exactly and I was like damn we’re supposed to like Orpheus but Euridyce is being maligned here

As for the tropes: enemies to lovers. Almost anything involving enemies to lovers.
