lol I'm not the only one who glanced over that I see, this is the same kind of desperate article I've seen posted around. It's really funny that there are women out there who think they can still get men by being arrogant, patronising or try to shame them when that just doesn't work on this generation.

For those who don't get what I mean when I say 'shaming' check out the numerous "Why young men are checking out of society" crap where the writers immediately shift blame to men themselves and claim all sorts of crap like needing to 'man up'.

Really makes me wonder what kind of benefit women who do this expect to get from men.

[–]Keiichi81 30 points31 points32 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Or how not wanting to remain in a relationship with an abusive, controlling bitch is "not being man enough to be able to handle a strong woman."

[–]dungone 12 points13 points14 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They typically only concede the point with some non-apology along the lines of, "so you picked the wrong person to be with, why are you so bitter?" To them, even if 99.99% of the women in their peer group are toxic pieces of crap, they still believe it's a man's job to keep trying them out one by one until he finds the one entitled princess who deserves her knight in shining armor.

[–]RU_Crazy 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This line of thinking is pervasive throughout the social justice crowd:

Men are having a bad time? It's the man's fault.

Women are having a bad time? It's the man's fault.

Blacks commit more crimes? Blame the white man.

Transgender commit suicide at a higher rate? Blame the white man.

Women make less money? Blame the white man.

Woman gets drunk and sucks some rando's cock? Blame the white man.

In conclusions: kill the white man

The best past of this article is where the go through this entire single mom sales process then, at the end, they have the audacity to suggest that men need to pamper and romance to earn brownie points.

Just unbelievable.

I've been in a very strong marriage for over 10 years and the idea of earning "Brownie Points" has never even crossed my mind.

[–]actingverystrangely 26 points27 points28 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The only games single mums play come in a box with instructions and a dice (or in Sam’s case, with some kind of sports equipment)

Err, no. The game for some single mums is "find me a walking ATM to support me after the father of my kids escaped" This article is a triumph of "wish for what you want and it might just happen" .

But it doesn't. And it won't. So many desperate women. Tick tick tick...

[–]rsresnor 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"wish for what you want and it might just happen"

Ah, the good old Disney delusion.

[–]WhirlingPervish 30 points31 points32 points 10 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

I've dated a single mom long term once. I'll never, ever do it again. There are so many issues. Take this article and invert every point that the author attempted to advance and there you'll have the truth, not the propaganda.

[–]xNOM 31 points32 points33 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

There’s no doubt she’s exceptionally stunning but more importantly she’s a woman who is confident in her own skin.

Wha... then why does she have so much spackle on her face?

[–]FigNinja4 points 10 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

I'm more wondering why she's willing to put herself and her child through the spectacle of a reality TV show. That sounds more like attention whoring than confidence. If I were a single mom, I would keep any dating relationships away from my kid until it was very serious. Having her meet him so soon and under the pressure of a TV show doesn't seem emotionally healthy.

[–]HoundDogs 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

spackle

Top notch lol right there.

[–]chavelah 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I agree that the article makes ridiculous generalizations - but inverting every point just gives you a different set of ridiculous generalizations. 180 degrees from stupid is generally still stupid.

And that article is stoooopid. Dating somebody who is a parent can be terrible, or wonderful, or anything in between. Dating somebody who has been widowed or who adopted as a single parent is very different from dating somebody with a belligerent ex lurking in the background. And for fucksake, if there is no father (or mother) involved in the child's life then the role is NOT taken and marrying the parent absolutely means putting on the Mom or Dad hat. Which can be great, if you have fallen in love with the child as well as the parent, but it's not a responsibility you can dodge once you join the family, so a sane and ethical person will not date a single parent unless they are open to the possibility of becoming a parent themselves. This article is bad even considering the source.

[–]FluffyBallofHate 23 points24 points25 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It isn't just belligerent exes, but the mothers and the relationships themselves. You will never build a family with a single-mother -- you can only join the one she already started to build with someone else. You will never spend any time as the most important person in her life. She will never put you first. She will never make time for you. She will never value you as anything but a surrogate father for her children. You will never have that time in a relationship where it's just the two of you. And you fall in love with that kid or not, you will never really belong there.

[+]chavelah -8 points-7 points-6 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Again, huge generalizations about an extremely diverse group of people (single parents). It is true that anybody who partners with a single parent doesn't get the "most important" spot - but if that's what you need to be happy, then a childless partnership is the right choice for you anyhow. People who have to be in the top spot with another adult in order to feel appropriately valued just don't make good parents, whether they come to parenthood biologically or through adoption. And they SUCK as stepparents - competing with actual children to be Mommy or Daddy's favorite, it's pathetic. Pity the child with divorced parents and two shitty stepparents who resent their existence.

I'm not saying childless people should all run out and date single parents - I'm objecting to overarching generalizations whether positive or negative, in a situation where individual personalities are what actually controls the outcome.

[–]jimmywiddle 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

We are talking about personalities and we are talking about single mothers (as thats what the article is based on) not single parents which you incorrectly changed it to. Single fathers will have different needs and wants but no one is commenting on them.

Please stay on topic.

[–]chavelah 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I work with single fathers. They never do get written about, but the big issues are the same. They want love and sex and commitment and family life, and a partner who loves their kids and is interested in parenting them rather than competing with them.

[–]jimmywiddle 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I also know a lot of single fathers, I grew up knowing a lot of them.

Men and Fathers have much less requirement for a female partner than a Mother would have for a male partner. The Fathers I have known throughout my life have been self sufficient and stable. Have not spent significant amounts of their time complaining they themselves are not getting everything they need. They have been a rock for their kids.

On the other hand the single mothers I have known, have repeatedly made it clear they are not able to buy the things they would like to for themselves, that they need more money, that they have a distain for men, and that they would love to meet a rich man to take care of them, and spent lots of time posting selfies on Facebook in an attempt to attract one.

You could just say thats anecdotal, but thats been my experience. So there is a big difference between single mothers and single fathers in my book based on behavioural differences.

[–]Wargame4life 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

i agree with everything you have stated and you are right in all you have claimed , but in terms of not being valued and never being a primary importance i dont think its valid to write that off as a childish concern.

if a partner expects you to put their welfare and their child first and does not or cannot do the same for you that is a poor deal regardless.

parenthood is generally mutual sacrifice for the benefit of the child, but in doing so that's an expression of your importance as the child is by extension part of you.

when the child isnt yours you are recieving much less than you give/get by any metric and personally i would run a mile and encourage others to do the same.

real parents can have genuine irreversible security of companionship/love/meaning through their biological relation. as a step parent you will always be at risk from being left out with nothing because of changes, it makes no sense to invest financially or emotionally in such situations.

[–]soulless_ging 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Unfortunately, this is what happens when you take a fluff piece about a contestant on the Bachelor and unpack all of its claims as if it were a research paper.

Not to diss you, but I have no idea why we're holding up this article as meaningful in the first place.

[–]chavelah 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You're quite right.

[–]Rex9 -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Kids of single moms are a total crapshoot. You just don't know what you're getting. I love my wife, but I lost on the stepson. There was a lot of grief when she spent most of his teenage years slowly coming around to my point of view on him. He's a lying, manipulative, drug-abusing, thief. Total sociopath.

Yet she's like a second mother to my kids. I hate it for her, and get that he's her little boy. But he can never come home again. He'll never be trusted in our home again.

[–]chavelah 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's awful - but the same damn thing can happen with a kid you sired or adopted as a newborn. Kids are a crapshoot, period. If you choose to be a parent, you are rolling the dice and hoping they don't come up Crazy Eyes.

[–]not_AtWorkRightNow 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is so true, and I think crapshoot is the perfect metaphor cause the odds are pretty stacked against you. The kid is coming from a broken home and with only a mother, they are constantly told how wonderful they are under any circumstances. It's really not setting them up for success.

[–]ThePigmanAgain 36 points37 points38 points 10 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

"Sandra Bullock is the epitome of cool mum."

Bullock is a piece of shit who claimed having her son circumcised was the greatest moment of her life. Genital mutilation of one's own child is not something to be celebrated, you brainless Hollywood cow. Also, it was a Jewish ceremony though Sandra Cow is not Jewish and the baby is a black American. Go figure.

[–]lastlaugh50 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm glad you said this. I remember that story too and it sickens me that she would want to have her son's penis mutilated. Boys and girls should be protected from unnecesary genital cutting.

[–]HoundDogs 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also, every single woman listed on that page are multi millionaires who do not have to concern themselves with the survival mechanisms that most single mothers do.

[–]ManRAh 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Snipping some skin off my son's dick was the greatest moment of my life." -Paraphrasing Sandra Bullock

[–]chavelah -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's horrible. I lost a friend in similar circumstances - she and her husband insisted on mutilating a Black child they had adopted from foster care, and they were so happy about it. They are Jewish, but I'm not sure that makes it better. For me it made it worse, because they knew what circ entailed and were willing to do it to a toddler anyhow.

[–]zyk0s 20 points21 points22 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

This list is hilarious:

  • NO GAMES
  • THEY’RE HAPPIER, STRONGER VERSIONS OF THEIR FORMER SELVES
  • THEY KNOW WHAT THEY WANT
  • THEY DON’T NEED RESCUING
  • THEY’RE LOOKING FOR A PARTNER, NOT A FATHER FOR THEIR CHILD
  • LONELY DOESN’T EQUAL DESPERATE
  • EASILY IMPRESSED

Basically the exact opposite of the truth, except perhaps the last point, which is there only to trick the very desperate and promise them a lay without too much effort.

[–]deadalnix 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If these were true, they would not be single moms.

[–]Funcuz 18 points19 points20 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, that's what I need : I need to get involved with a woman who can eventually find a way to make me financially responsible for a child that everybody on Earth knows isn't mine.

Just fuck off.

[–]chocoboat 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

It's really weird to me that this article is written by a woman. How many single mothers has she dated? How does she know what it's like to date a single mom, how is she qualified to give people advice like that?

If they wanted an article like this, couldn't they have found a man with experience doing it to talk about dating a single mom?

I do think that some people in here are being a little harsh on the article itself. There definitely are some advantages to dating a single parent - because they recognize that having a kid makes them less "dateable", they tend to cut out some of the bullshit and game-playing. And because they take care of a child, they're more mature and responsible people on average.

There's nothing wrong with writing an article like this and discussing the positive side to dating single moms, but it would look a lot less like a propaganda piece if the author wasn't a woman.

And I personally have no interest in raising some other man's child... that's a big hurdle for a lot of guys to get over. I'd want to be with a woman who's at the same point in life as me, where if we had a baby together it would be a new experience for both of us.

I also think it would be a lot easier on single moms if the court system treated fathers equally. If there were an equal number of single dads out there, there wouldn't be such an issue of single moms who have trouble finding someone to date.

[–]soulless_ging 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I think we need to recognize that this is a fluff piece about a contestant on The Bachelor and not a peer-reviewed scientific study on why men should date single moms.

Why are we discussing this at all? This feels like it was posted just to bash women.

[–]rsresnor 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, this would fit better in /r/theredpill or something.

[–]chocoboat 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Wargame4life -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]brokedown 11 points12 points13 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I support single moms.

[–]icecow 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I love the "NO GAMES" line.

It's like a guy in a hood walking towards you with a knife repeating, "I'M NOT GOING TO ROB YOU, I'M NOT GOING TO ROB YOU, I'M NOT GOING TO ROB YOU"

How can there be a "NO GAMES" guarantee merely because a person is a single mother. That's ridiculous on it's head.

..

Another example

THEY’RE LOOKING FOR A PARTNER, NOT A FATHER FOR THEIR CHILD

Either way, a single mother is ultimately looking for a partner for herself, that will accept, involve and nurture her child. She is not, however, looking for a pseudo-father for her child.

WTF

  1. It's about me and you, not expected to be a father
  2. You're responsibility is to involve, nurture, etc (father) my child
  3. She is not, however, looking for a pseudo-father for her child (At any given moment: stay the fuck away from my kid, stop acting like you are the father, freak)

[–]icecow 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

EASILY IMPRESSED There are limited opportunities for single parents to relax and unwind. Pampering your date, surprising her with a touch of romance or just showing her you’ve taken some time to consider what she’d like, will go far to impress her. Be aware that although spontaneous situations are invigorating, they rely on flexibility that single mothers don’t always have when there are babysitters to organise. Respecting her time will clock up considerable brownie points.

Notice how it outlines exclusively what the man can do for her as though it's a favor. Brownie points? really?

[–]colourful_opinion 6 points7 points8 points 10 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

What a ridiculous article. Virtually every point is often reversed in real life, so this is little more than propaganda. My real life ex has gone 16 years without a date, is a seething mass of insecurities and ideologies, can barely hold a job, fell into religion hard, and is a ludicrous helicopter parent that micro-manages her kid. The next person that gets involved with her romantically is walking into a ticking time bomb.

And that's just the most salient single Mom I know. I've got about half a dozen in my group of friends with varying degrees of issues. There's the "writer" who makes an absolute pittance and relies on an unbroken stream of men to pay the bills. There's the wannabe EMT that took her education years ago but can't pull the trigger on working and so has been on welfare for 3 years running. There's the other wannabe EMT that just married a guy who has been unfaithful to her a dozen times and shows no sign of stopping, but he makes mad cash in the oil patch and she's clearly "settling" for the financial security.

This article is just trying to reframe dating, so that women that are lousy catches can somehow pitch that they are the bees knees.

[–]Wargame4life -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

There's the other wannabe EMT that just married a guy who has been unfaithful to her a dozen times and shows no sign of stopping.

how is that her failure, its pretty harsh to hold her in poor light for his adultery/cheating, she might be an idiot or overly gullible or whatever but that doesn't necessarily make her a bad person or crazy.

I don't think its fair to hold his cheating against her.

[–]colourful_opinion 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't know where you got from my post that I'm somehow holding her responsible for his cheating. The only decision she's responsible for is putting mad cash or financial security higher on her priority pole than fidelity in her marriage. That's her choice to make, obviously.

But what's also obvious, though, is that some of the points made in the article, like "they don't need rescuing" or "they're looking for a partner and not a father for their child" or perhaps "lonely doesn't equal desperate" apply in this case. Some single mothers ARE desperate, desperate for that financial security, desperate for male attention, desperate for a "family life" and are willing to marry even serial cheaters to get it, clearly.

[–]eaton80 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

"Hey Betas. AF/BB is the honorable choice. Man up!"

[–]Mythandros 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Bahahahaha. That's hilarious. Especially THIS line. "She is not, however, looking for a pseudo-father for her child."

I've met a lot of single mothers and that is EXACTLY what they are looking for. That and an ATM on legs.

This article is so ludicrous it's funny.

How is this in any way about men's rights?

It's a fluff piece about a contestant on the Bachelor. It's not an attempt to brainwash men into fathering children who aren't theirs.

Can we talk about real issues?

[–]WhiteDragon9d 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

Show you what, all the comments listing generalized defects and bad attributes of single mothers (the women I mentioned) and why they are horrible? Cause there's a lot of 'em. And besides, you're missing the point, which is we should be focusing on actual egalitarian issues, not this circlejerking of negative stereotypes about women.

[–]MagicRocketAssault -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

It is perfectly fine to give reasons why one would not date a single mother. It is not hateful and not an attack on all women. There are plenty of other posts. This post doesn't affect their existence in any way.

Seriously. I agree with most of the causes that this sub is allegedly fighting for, but whenever I come here they're mostly complaining about female criminals, yelling about something a radical feminist said, or even worse, taking something like this completely out of context.

And then they wonder how they're coming off as misogynistic.

Pretty sure I'll just be going to MensLib to discuss Men's Rights from now on.

[–]WhirlingPervish 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Then you need to work on your reading comprehension because people only seem to complain about unequal treatment in the justice system for female criminals. I've never read a single comment that said "Lol women are bad at crime" or "women have no business working in a life of crime"

[–]tiqr 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Quite the contrary.

Dude. You need to work on your reading comprehension.

I did not mean men laughing at inept female criminals. That's not what "complaining about" means. I meant people posting about female criminals and then complaining that they exist/got a lighter sentence. The latter is understandable, but very often is speculation and no one bothers to determine whether the lighter sentence was warranted.

What's more, it generally just becomes a circle jerk of "feminists are terrible," instead of a discussion about men's rights.

This sub raises more awareness of issues that men face every day, than what you will ever achieve. I haven't seen any posts of yours on this sub talking about anything productive. So unless you are deliberately trying to sound like a hypocrite I suggest you jog on because your credibility after moaning about men who are laughing at the inaccuracies of a feminist article is through the floor.

[–]tiqr 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yeah, the sheer number of people who only come here to reinforce their negative opinions of women has pretty much buried everything else.

And don't give me that "it refutes 'women are wonderful'" argument. It's complete crap. If you spend all your time trying to prove that women aren't wonderful, then you are literally spending your time bashing women.

[–]CeruleaAzura 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Completely agree. This post is completely unnecessary. It's not even remotely related to Men's Rights and I don't know what OP is even trying to achieve by posting this.

[–]Wargame4life 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

well i like these posts, reddit is so piss poor at discussing anything of merit because 90% of you dont understand evidence and think casual anecdotal speculation is rigorous peer reviewed data, the opinion pieces are this places only value.

[–]soulless_ging -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

But what's the point of holding up one person's opinion and acting like it in any way represents a majority?

This isn't even an opinion piece that's trying to be inflammatory or trying to attack men. It's not calling you an ass for NOT dating a single mom. It's about as vanilla as an opinion article can get.

On top of that, what is even so awful about an article that celebrates single moms and talks about dating them? How does that infringe on men's (or anyone's) rights in any way?

I'm in the only marriage I will ever have. If I get divorced, that's it. It's hookups and hookers for me forever. While not preferable to a strong and loving relationship, technology and extracurriculars are at a place now where I believe I can sustain any excessive loneliness.

Dating a single mother wouldn't even be in the cards. I know that TheRedPill gets a bad rap but it's really opened my eyes to certain behaviors I now see in the divorcing wives and single women around me and helped me understand the foundation of those behaviors. I have a good (and wealthy) friend who is about to get into a very serious relationship with a woman 20 years younger than him with three young children. Words cannot describe how horrible this decision is for him, but he won't be convinced and it's not my place.

Just look at the attitude in this article itself. Look how much they have to bend the very fabric of the english language to make single mothers appealing to men.

her daughter is her absolute priority but being a solo parent doesn’t exclude her from falling in love and having a meaningful relationship.

Gold digger speak for: I need a third party payer to help me financially support my lifestyle and my children. Not to mention that, according to every guide to successful relationships it's also the complete WRONG approach to successful marriages and parenting. Parents relationship comes first. Then kids. Otherwise, what you have is a shell of a relationship that revolves around the children and leaves the man sitting third string. This kind of relationship MIGHT last until those kids leave the nest and your once single mother wife decides that you weren't really the one she wanted after all.

They don’t have time to play the “will he call me” or “shall I wait three days so he doesn’t think I’m overly keen” games.

Perhaps they would have more time to analyze potential relationships if they didn't ruthlessly go after full time custody for the sake of higher child support. Just a thought, but I realize this scenario doesn't happen in every case.

There may be a considerable disparity between your frame of reference and theirs, but be assured that more often than not, single mothers emerge from hardship as stronger, happier versions of themselves.

I read that as: "After going through the hardship of ripping her children away from their father their survival mechanism is the highest it will ever be to sustain life and keep children safe." I realize that these are not, exactly, conscious thoughts on the part of a single mother but people have to realize that human biology is at play just as wild animal biology is. Survival and reproductive instincts will always subconsciously lead the way. It's why she's out there looking for men and not participating in a sewing circle with old spinsters....one of those activities is decidedly more valuable than the other.

Single mothers know what they want, and are clear on what they don’t (often been there, procreated with him). As a result, they can make some swift decisions about whether the union will work. There’s no dragging their feet or beating around the mulberry bush with single mothers.

Fuck me running. What they want is to survive. That's why they're in a hurry to sign that LEGAL contract.....because it means security. All the justifying words in the world don't change the ACTION she's pushing for (A quick marriage). Also, at the rate that single mothers are divorced (i.e. 100%), perhaps "Swift decisions" shouldn't be such a positive talking point.

THEY DON’T NEED RESCUING

Riiiight. Hence this legal contract that entitles them to half of your shit you need to sign as soon as possible.

They carry the load alone and even if they have an impressive support network, the ultimate responsibility for parenting their child comes down to them.

...until they find a mark.

LONELY DOESN’T EQUAL DESPERATE

No...desperate equals desperate.

Pampering your date, surprising her with a touch of romance or just showing her you’ve taken some time to consider what she’d like, will go far to impress her.

Go the extra mile TO IMPRESS HER, they say! AYFKM? Am I underestimating the desperation of men or something?

As an interesting side note, the article sports and number of photographs of single mothers...who also happen to be multimillionaires, celebrities, and bombshell beautiful. Nice touch.

Honestly, I have to give some credit to this author. I never thought I could see single motherhood churched up quite so skillfully. I'm sure they'll even convince some poor bastard. Hopefully no one here.

[–]Lethn 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

For the record I should say I have nothing against single moms in general, but I think that the way these feminist writers are trying to goad young men into dating women who come with a lot more emotional baggage and way more responsibility than your average single woman is extremely irresponsible.

It wouldn't be so bad if they were more balanced about it and gave some fair warnings about how you should know whether the mom is looking for something serious or not but they don't do that in any of these articles.

As ever with feminist doctrine, women are the flawless human beings and can do no wrong.

[–]Edg3Crusher 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not even interested in having my own children. Why would I want to raise someone else's?

[–]PerniciousOne 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Reading this garbage is hilarious. Trying to help single mothers attract higher tiered men. Bwhahahahahaha

Unless they are the biological father, remember all men are ranked below her children on her priority scale. So his needs comes in usually 5th on the priority of her life.

She might make it appear that he is the first priority during the "attraction" phase where she can use family and friends to take care of the child so it seems that the child is not a huge interference, but once she has him locked down he gets dropped a few pegs on the needs board.

THEY DON’T NEED RESCUING

This whole paragraph is utter and complete horse crap. They want someone to take care of them, and in that take care of their children. This is why they are attracted to men who they ignored in their late teens, and twenties. The men who have saved, and built things for themselves so they can take it all away when they get "bored", or "lonely" because he is working so much to support her.

[–]chafedinksmut 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Pure delusion. A pretty funny read if you ignore that's she's totally serious. And that picture of her taken with a potato... XD

I do not want to be the only male in my entire line back to the first life form of this earth not to reproduce because someone got there first. I sure its a strange thought.

[–]ExpendableOne 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I have met a lot of seriously fucked up single moms, who should never have been mothers in the first place. The dating market is full of terrible single mothers who really don't know how to put their kids first, and who are single mothers because they chose horrible men or because they are horrible people.

Unless they have kids of your own or can't have kids of their own, most men don't really want to raise another man's child. It's a huge burden and a lot of responsibility for something they are not physically/biologically linked to and, at the same time, they probably feel unable to deal with a lot of things because they will never really be the primary parent.

It's also very likely that those single mothers are often basically going around looking for male providers to fix their personal mistakes and income problems, having no real desire or appreciation for those men. Who wants to be in a relationship with someone that doesn't really desire them, and who literally only values them for how much money they bring to her table?

A lot of men might have also had some pretty horrible experiences being raised by single moms, and all of their horrible decisions/boyfriends as well, and the last thing they want to do is relive those memories or be complicit in creating those kind of memories in another child.

[–]McFeely_Smackup 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

yeah, keep telling yourself that.

I don't even have to look to know this editorial was written by a woman, and most likely a single mother.

The only actual examples of men I've known who got involved with single mothers are not positive ones. If nothing else you have to consider that this is a woman raising at least one child out of wedlock, think she won't do another?

[–]whatpaper 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's an article about Bachelor. People who watch that are women. The article is trying to boost the self-image of single mothers, not trying to convince anyone to actually date them.

Do a search on You tube of why not to date single mums.

1) They want a father for their children not a partner!

2) No matter what you will always be second to their children

3) Why did the guy leave in the first marriage or why did she get rid of him.

4) She wants your money not your love.

5)Once you meet the kids she will put pressure on you not to break up with her for the sake of her kids feelings.

6) The kids will probably hate you really.

I could go on but you want your head looking at if you start dating a single mum!

[–]pirate6728 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wrong on every point. 'Nuff sed.

Marrying a single mom is a losing proposition from the word "go". You will never be allowed to be a proper Dad-- in fact you'll be reminded countless times by both the mother and the children that you're not the children's real Dad--, you'll always---ALWAYS-- be an outsider in the family, and when the inevitable divorce comes you lose everything including the children.

Any time I encounter a single mom, my first thought is "This is a woman that makes enormous mistakes when it comes to important life choices".

There are rare exceptions, like when you're dealing with widows. But the whole.. "Yeah, I was married and it didn't work out" thing; really just shows they're a poor judge of character and bad at planning. Bad planning goes quadruple for the women that purposely or 'accidentally' get pregnant out of wedlock and then keep it. Children need a parent, either a full time parent, or two part-time parents. Working full time and 'raising a child' quarter-time doesn't fucking work.

I should know. I was raised by a single mother. And I am broken as fuck, inside and out.

[–]newharddrive -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

One of the worst choices you can make in my opinion. Biologically speaking, it is a lose for you and an win for him. I know that there are a lot of guys who have married single mothers and it can work, but it is not for me.

[–]Organicdancemonkey- 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's like making a conscious choise to be a cuckold. Why? What really is there to gain? I guess there are some men who could never get a woman who isnt looking for a man to take care of her and her family, but for most men? Just why?

[–]newharddrive 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]sillymod[M] -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

People have reported this. It is a men's rights issue because there is a stark difference with how single moms and single dads are portrayed. Men are portrayed as deadbeats, but here we have an instance of single moms are portrayed in a "women are wonderful" effect way.

[–]Lethn -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why the fuck would somebody report this? Fuck me, some people really are just petty and spiteful fuckers aren't they?

[–]CeruleaAzura -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I have to disagree there. In the real world (not the internet) I always see people praising single dad's. I've never heard a single bad word said about a single dad EVER. Plenty of awful things about single mothers though.

We're talking about single parents here, are we not? I thought a 'deadbeat' dad is a dad who definitely does not live with his children? Completely separate things

[–]sillymod 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You do understand that a person doesn't need to live with their children to be a parent, right? And that "single moms" don't necessarily have 100% custody, right?
