In my 20s most women around my age don't have kids so they have very different priorities and aren't interested in a man with kids already. I'm also just not interested in women with children because I'm going to raise another man's kids or play stepdad. My options are slim to none most likely.

Adverse selection. Think about it - if they were reasonably attractive and really looking to build something real, what are the odds they're single? The good ones get snapped up extremely quickly.

If you can't find women through your hobbies, consider travel to expand your horizons on life or discover a market more favorable to you.

I realized I will have to get used to being lonely for a long time. And while that sounds fucking frightening, because we all want companionship and connection and adoration, it does give me opportunity for self-love and being centered/grounded with myself.

Dating in your late 40s feels like everyone's either shopping or healing and very few are actually available. The real trust thing hits hard. That takes time and nobody seems to want to invest it anymore.

Honestly, I think we live in a very specific moment regarding relationships. It seems to me that there's no belief that a heterosexual relationship can be positive. So people simply live their affections cynically; they start one already thinking it will end. Therefore, I believe the fellow redditor above is right: people who want relationships will have to adapt to seasonal relationships. Unless you irresponsibly want to jump into one of those intense passions, if those even still exist.

I coming to the realization that the rest of my life will probably be in relationships that vary in length. I’m going to keep myself to only dating one person at a time because I don’t think I have the bandwidth for more than that.

In some cases it could be a few days. Other times it might be much longer.

I met a wonderful person and we’ve been dating about a year. We have both been clear with the other. I won’t marry again and she won’t cohabitate with someone she’s not married to.

I’m not sure where that will leave us in the end. We’re going on a weeklong vacation together in a few days, so I’m guessing this will come up at some point.

At least you’re able to. 47 I’ve been divorced 12 years and not one time have I had an opportunity to go on a date for the exact reasons you mentioned. Raised my son this whole time who is now 15 and women see the age and run or the they just don’t bother

People think there’s a lot of options since dating apps exist. Exploring like a crazy just having fun and wasting other people time, that’s sounds like a hobby for them. Back then people are more serious to settle down since there’s no social media. I think that is killing the real social life in real life tho.

I had two sexual experiences after my divorce that taught me a lot. The first was a very strange encounter with a 35 yr old virgin. When think back, I really wasn’t attracted to her, just the whole idea of it intrigued me. She had never even been to second base before me. I stayed with her 2.5 months. We rounded all the bases but never hit that home run if you know what I mean. It taught me a lot about just enjoying myself (I don’t mean this sexually…) shortly after her I met a woman who was in the same exact situation as me, a single parent stressed out of their mind. I thought we were developing something after we had sex twice in a one night stand but things fizzled out. My lesson?everyone and I mean EVERYONE is in a different spot in life: live your life for the moment. This is hard to learn, we’ve spent so much time with who we thought was our person that we expect the opposite sex to be on the same page. I’m always looking for my forever person, but it’s never going to just workout out like it did the first time around. Enjoy the moment, push for the future, and accept when it’s not exactly what you wanted.

It's because real trust and relationships was always a lie. By this age, everyone finds out. All there is now is convenience, consumerism, extortion and entertainment.

Faith, loyalty, devotion and trust all died in the 50's and 60's.

Divorced since March and separated for 14 months before that.

The apps were fun for a while. Definitely a rush getting back out there.

Majority of the women just doom scroll on the apps and use it for validation. Not many are serious.

They're all scandalous and will drop those panties on the first date. Fun at first but like you said, would be nice to build with a like minded woman.

I just don't think they exist.

Start with the flings. Move to the second dates. Then a third. Then a GF. Gonna scare em off if you lead with the punch.

If you can't get a 2nd or 3rd date, you gotta reflect on the 2 possibilities- 1) it's you, or 2) your pool sucks. Both of those are fixable.
