Mine is still with me but I don't wear it anymore. I bought myself some cheap rings since I am used to having smth on my finger. Not sure about you guys but it serves as a good reminder every day to never lose myself over a woman.

(You’re unlikely to get it back, unless you negotiate it in court.) It’s legally hers in most states. Kinda depends on much financially speaking, your willing to fight for it back. She may have already thrown it away.

My ring I tossed in the ocean. I did not ask for the engagement ring back. It sounds like it was a family ring of yours, if she is a halfway decent person I assume she would be open to giving it back to you. But you have to ask her and see what she says, and prepare to negotiate.

I plan on remelting my own wedding band and have a piece of jewelry created from it for when my daughters are a bit older (and when I have some more financial freedom to afford it)

Mine who under Scottish law still has rights to access of my home until the court and my lawyer can sort that out came in to my house and stole mine while I was away for a night at a gig with my daughter. Unfortunately even though she was the only person other than my son who was in the house I have no hard evidence. Asked her straight and she refused a straight answer. I'd like to keep it to pass to him once divorce is final but hey ho.

Occupancy rights in Scotland are a joke.

Assume the ring is hers, along with the stones. If you want it or the stones back, you’ll have to negotiate with her. Don’t be bitchy or whiney about it and timing is important. The price might be steep depending on her mood so set your walkaway point before you ask. Won’t she give them to your kids anyway? Edit: even better, wait until she asks you for something you’re not obligated to do or give her, then propose the trade.

Let it go. Not worth the fight. Also the value on most rings is drastically reduced.

But engagement ring typically considered a gift to her unless she is flexible and willing to give back

I plan to ask for it back during mediation. I guess legally it’s mine since i paid for it and it wasn’t a gift but an acceptance of marriage. Now that she wants the divorce and took it off, why shouldn’t I get it back? And because I’m bitter and will keep it safely for any future reason

My wedding band was stolen while I was in a 24 hour hold. It was never logged with my possessions, and never returned. Her engagement ring also had stones from a family member. She kept that—kept my last name too.
