Before I rant on the red pill I do credit it with some positive lessons that I’ve taken to heart: self improvement is important and it shouldn’t be done to “get girls”, it’s important to become a man worthy of respect (first self respect, and then respect from others), there’s no such thing as the “one” for you (ie don’t put a woman on a pedestal).

With that being said there’s a lot I dislike with the Red Pill. I believe it promotes ideas that make it easy to hate women (“AWALT”, claiming women are incapable of being loyal, etc). As someone who wants to get married I think that sort of ideology has made me develop a very toxic mindset towards women that I have been activitely working past thanks to therapy, my spiritual life, and a mostly healthy relationship with my current girlfriend.

With that being said I believe red pill ideology is still affecting me in my current relationship. I’m with a great woman who I plan to marry. With that being said I really struggle with trusting her. On paper, she’s the woman any self-described “red pill man” would dream of: she’s beautiful, smart, social and has never kissed a man besides me. She’s also a virgin, so no, we’ve never had sex. On paper I trust her (because of all the red pill programming I’ve tried to get out of especially with regards to n-count). I simultaneously don’t fully trust her because me and her haven’t had sex (more on this below).

So while unconsciously I love that she’s a virgin, I also subconsciously wish she would have sex with me, even though for relgious reasons we have mutually decided not to have sex until marriage.

I can’t help but fixate on yellow flags that I wouldn’t even label as yellow flags if I wasn’t in the red pill manosphere for so long. These (red pilled based) yellow flags include:

  • She loves having guy friends. She had many before me and has gained more since being in a relationship with me. She even meets with these guys some times 1:1. Red pill guys always state a girl only has guy friends for attention so if she’s still having guy friends while dating me, then “I’m not enough”
  • She has a flirtatious personality. This is actually one flag irregardless of red pill teaching that I think is a no-no. But maybe I’m still being influenced by red pill here?
  • She hasn’t had sex with me. Even though it’s for religious reasons I can’t get the words out of my head from red pill gurus saying “she doesn’t really love you if she doesn’t have sex with you”
  • She’s not “obsessed” with me. In fact for most parts of the relationship I initiate more. The one thing that she initiates more now (but only after having a conversation about it early on in our relationship) is talking on the phone. Again Red Pill screwed into my brain that a loyal woman is a woman who’s obsessed with you.

All of this has just made it impossible to be open and vulnerable with my girlfriend because deep down I don’t trust her. And I don’t trust her because of these “yellow flags” that I might not have even seen as yellow flags if it wasn’t for red pill teaching.

You might say, “we’ll just recognize these aren’t yellow flags and move on.” But I think another part of me doesn’t really know if these truly aren’t yellow flags. Was the red pill truly wrong about all of this?

Finally to explain the no sex part since I know people will have questions on that: my gf is saving it for marriage for religious reasons. Before dating her I started practicing abstinence even though I was very much living my bachelor life before that. In my state of abstinence I had committed to finding the right girl before having sex again. When I met her I was aware of her wanting to remain virgin until marriage and honestly I didn’t mind since I figured we were close enough to the same page there. I think it was only over time that i started having mixed feelings about it all.

Thanks in advance
