Low value men love splurging on women and feeling manly. That’s why they prey on young teenagers because it’s impressive to have a man drive a shitty car and pay for your Taco Bell at the age of 16.
The men who complain cannot afford to properly court a woman their age.

Damn this gave me flashbacks of 16 when I thought that hot 21yo guy who'd pursued me for a year was soo cool, playing Zimmer's Hole, getting us a pizza and driving HIS MOM'S car around. Each of his friends thought the age gap was weird though, so I'm glad he at least had friends calling him out on that.
Embarrassing 🤦🏾♀️😂

I remember turning 21 and having my "wanna be" sugar daddy take me to Texas Roadhouse. He was in his late 40s or 50s, older than my parents. I didn't entertain him for long tho. I cringe just thinking about it.

I remember someone had posted here “never date a man who is cheap with money.” Made me drop my jaw; my father is a tight wad. And he’s abusive.
100% feels inadequate and jealous of his brothers and other men.
It was “fun” trying to sleep summer nights with no AC.
Oh and at Disneyland when my mom really wanted photos.
“No!!”
“Why?!”
“Because it cost $5!”
$5. Wow. Way to break the bank.
This guy I was seeing wanted to buy me things and do things for me all the time I’m not use to it so it made me so uncomfortable but he’d be really eager to buy me things and do things for me.

It's so weird bc men DO love it and the ones that are like "well shouldn't it be equal durr" are either poor or misogynists. Usually just misogynists.
[–]DoggonelovahFDS Newbie112 points113 points114 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I know you weren’t saying this but I just want to note that plenty of men that do provide/pay for everything are misogynists as well.

Yea one of my friends brothers said to us that men like high maintenance women - the ones who don’t are the ones who can’t afford them...
[–]ayhtdws1989FDS Newbie54 points55 points56 points 5 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
woah so they want to splurge on women ? idk the world has called women golddiggers all our life
[–]Unlikely-MarzipanRuthless Strategist67 points68 points69 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Apparently! BUT I think there’s a huge difference between a HVM who genuinely wants to because he cares, and an LVM who does...
This guy was an LVM and I feel like his motive was more about how he can “get” the hard to get girl... but he will still devalue her over time and call her a gold digger. It makes the LVM feel better about himself, because it implies that he has gold to dig 😂 but also makes her look like the bad one who doesn’t deserve him.
Also, I think there’s plenty of LVM who will spend money but then expect a woman’s complete subservience, and if she has any complaints ever it’s all “look what I do for you!” They literally buy the women to become his slave.
I’ve had rich men like this - taking me on expensive dinners, talking about expensive rings, offering free expensive holidays, taking me to beautiful balls etc. but they expected not just sex (which I didn’t do anyway) but my complete and utter subservience. They wanted an attractive, smart woman on their arm - but didn’t want her to use her smarts against him. They want to buy their arm candy.
[–]ayhtdws1989FDS Newbie28 points29 points30 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
i completely agree with you sister. a HVM will spend because he cares and actually wants too. I know a man who takes pleasure in paying for everything for his family and also making their problems his own and solving them . A LV will make your life miserable ngl.
[–]moredollalsFDS Newbie8 points9 points10 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes, they want you intelligent but not intelligent enough to question them/god forbid you know more about something than them. And usually it's the guys who say "I love that you're a smart/clever/intelligent woman."

Lol yeah someone just dm'd me crying because he's not a doctor and can't afford fancy dinner dates and shopping sprees. There are literally PLENTY of women in the dating pool right now who are happy to go 50/50 on dates, accept McDonald's or going out for walks as a date etc. But instead of going out to find one he's in my dm's whining about the ones he can't have 😂
[–]ms_monquisFDS Disciple4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
But there's still a difference between controlling someone with finances and sharing what I have more than enough of to improve your life. The "sugar baby" thing, for instance, isn't exactly a shining example of HVM and "high maintenance women."
[–]Unlikely-MarzipanRuthless Strategist0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

In the same way, parents should enjoy being providers and financially stable enough to splurge on their children. It's the natural order of things.
[–]talldrankofH2OFDS Newbie75 points76 points77 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Exactly. I don’t understand why some parents enjoy bragging about not spending anything on their kid. I’m all for not having kids unless you can afford them and want them.
[–]VioletRomanticFDS Newbie23 points24 points25 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I started paying for all of my own things (school supplies and fees, toiletries, clothing, etc) aside from very basic food and housing when I was 15. Not because my parents stopped paying for it at that age, but because I was finally old enough to find ways to make my own money and buy the things I needed. Before then it would often be common to not have things like toilet paper, soap/shampoo, toothpaste, and fitting clothes for weeks to months at a time. But my parents always had money for beer, weed, and cigarettes!
[–]GourmayFDS Newbie17 points18 points19 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
In a similar vein, I feel lucky to have had adults (family, friends..) pay small things for me when I was a broke student so I try to extend the courtesy when I’ve been out with younger lady friends, that kind of thing.
[–]laeriel_cFDS Newbie9 points10 points11 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Same for me. I've had older friends buy me drinks/food when we go out, no matter if male or female, they just cared about me and knew I was broke and didn't expect anything in return. They wanted me to be able to spend time with them. So if I'm dating a guy and he doesn't do the same (food and drinks are the minimum tbh) it's just not worth it. I'm looking forward to graduating and being able to treat my friends in the same way they have me.

100%. I don't have kids but when there are kids in my life who I care about I spoil them and want to do things that make them happy.
[–]amkamamkamFDS Newbie5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I really want to have kids one day and when I do, I'll absolutely splash the cash on them. Hopefully they'll be appreciative as it'll be out of pure love for them and desire for them to be happy. Some parents just don't get this though and feel the need to "teach" their children into subservience for every item they get. Essentials or otherwise.
[–]terrn1981FDS Newbie15 points16 points17 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ya, they feel inadequate because they are. They do not want to put any effort into changing their inadequacy. They have this entitlement which makes them think everything should just be dropped on their laps.
A lot of men are just lazy and selfish. Full stop.
Too lazy to be a good lover - rather jerk to porn. Too lazy to pull off post-secondary. Too lazy to go to the gym. Too lazy to go to therapy. Too lazy to do any emotional/mental labour.
But, they do seem to find the time and energy for video games, beer, porn, and weed.

I got told by a LVM ex that the reason he was depressed and not able to meet my needs in a relationship is that he had no money and the only way he wanted to/ could show love was to spoil a partner. He was more than happy to spend all MY money, instead of, Yknow, working hard, completing a course he had halfway finished, and trying to find low cost ways to “spoil” me.
[–]MissVvvvvFDS Newbie24 points25 points26 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Jealousy. Think about a time when you've not been your best self and you've spoken down about someone's car, or bag or outfit or whatever - pure jealousy. Whether it be of the item or of the confidence of that person. This behaviour is the behaviour of the insecure.
[–]ms_monquisFDS Disciple23 points24 points25 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is definitely a people thing — who doesn't love taking care of the people they adore, in whatever form that takes? Well...
Dead on that the people who speak down on it feel like they don't have anything of value, and worse, don't WANT to. Instead of feeling the warmth of sharing what you have with the people you love (you and I both know that doesn't always mean $$$), they resent sharing anything with anyone. The "life is a zero sum game" people who feel that anything they give means something taken from them. I almost said it's sad, but that would suggest something that deserves empathy, when it's actually more like pathetic — something they could change but are too deep into their own bullshit to do so.
Guys? If you're listening? It isn't always about literal money. It's about sharing, and effort, and yeah a little sacrifice. Isn't that what you'd want out of a partner?

You need to leave him hun. Men like that are only leeches and block your way to success. They are NEVER worth it, nor are they thankful for it in the end. They usually feel insecure you make more than them & wear you down for it. Usually, once you give your livelihood, energy and finances providing for them, and they're "built up," they leave you for someone who they can splurge and dote on, saying they're too good for you.
Witnessed it firsthand with my former roommates. She has a son she abandoned so she could raise a deadbeat LVM. Doesn't work, doesn't even cook or clean so she is taking care of all the chores. He'd drop her off at work with her car, and then we'd stop at the pet store so he could buy reptiles for his ex who he was still talking to (with her money), and then get home, he'd game and smoke waiting for her to come home with his money. (Shit she was such a Pickmeisha, I gotta write a story up for this sub on it)
But yeah, I'm derailing. Long story short, it's NEVER worth it and you'll be drained and full of regrets at the end. I'm not saying you don't have to work, but the right HVM is supposed to BOOST you to success, and add to your bank account - not subtract from it or keep you, or your goals, stagnant.
[–]WhoopassDietFDS Newbie13 points14 points15 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This may be true under some circumstances, but you also shouldn't immediately dump someone the moment they lose their job.
If her long term partner is unemployed due to temporary sickness or whatever, I totally disagree with getting rid of them. If he's her new date and unemployed because he'd rather sit at home and play videogames, I fully support lifting him up, right out the bedroom window.
There are plenty of situations this is a good behaviour, and plenty of situations where she needs to GTFO yesterday. Without more info, I can't say which it is.
[–]ColdxConfectionFDS Newbie[S] 20 points21 points22 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I definitely agree, but idk if it's been 5 months and he's not at least TRYING to relieve some of that burden, that's a red flag to me. When I was out of work for 3 months (this was before CoVid, but I was sick) my HVM took care of everything but also hustled on the side so we'd still have some extra spending money. Also, is he helping with cooking, cleaning, errands, kids too, or just sitting around? No way in hell would I work just to come home and cook/clean every day if I had a SO who wasn't also working.
I just feel like a HVM wouldn't sit around and allow his woman to slave away & suffer while he gets to do nothing. He would try to find a way to relieve some of that financial/energy burden. Whether it's by taking up a part time job, hustling for extra $$$ to cover a bill, or taking over the home duties, etc. A real provider would find a way.

Get out while you can. I mean it. I've been in this relationship and it doesn't get better without a stiff dose of reality metaphorically hitting him the face. If you really like him you can always get back together later on, after he's worked on himself. But he needs to know that you are not going to be his cash cow or his mommy. You have standards. You will entertain the idea of dating him again after he has pulled himself up and is standing firmly on his own two feet. You are better than what he is right now. Own it.

My man is not exactly rich and I have, to date, never been surprised with a weekend trip or really anything costing over $500 but he is good about picking me up little surprises on a regular basis. He doesn't knock other men and never talks down on guys that can afford to splurge more on their women or allow them to be a SAHM. He often says he wishes he could do this. And if I ever even casually mention that I would like something (which 9/10 times I'm planning buying for myself bc I can) he'll find a way to get it for me, and usually get better than what I would've gotten for myself. So I don't think its just about what you have in resources, but your attitude twords your partner.
[–]ColdxConfectionFDS Newbie[S] 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Agreed. I just got a dm from a male whining because he's not a doctor and can't afford fancy dinners and shopping spree dates lol. I actually make more than my partner, he is not rich by any means, but he acts exactly as you described. He saved up some of his money to buy me a camera I really wanted and surprised me by taking me out and doing a little mini impromptu photoshoot. Another example- my best friend just got into a relationship with a HVM too, she said she was sad because she didn't have very many nice clothes to wear, and what did he do, goes out and buys her stuff she likes as a surprise! He cooks her breakfast every single morning before he goes to work, makes her a drink that takes 20 minutes by hand, buys food and stuff for her cat etc. None of us are saying a HVM has to be rich (if that's your minimum then I don't judge you tho, considering the standards most men have for us alone). But they can't fathom that I guess.
[–]NeoragoFDS Newbie5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
My first ex won a 5 figure sum and earned 2x the amount I did. We split bills 50/50 and he had a £40 gift limit for me. He never took me on dates.
When we broke up he paid £££ for a woman (who would never date or sleep with him) for gifts for her birthday.
Men want to provide for women. If you let him away with not doing it, he will take you for granted and not invest in you at all.
I also dated a student that had no money yet he was able to save up to take me on dates and put his prised possessions for sale to pay for a plane ticket... decent men WANT to provide gifts for you no matter what. Let them.
[–]Pudding5050FDS Newbie5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I think there's a difference between "provide" and to be generous. I do want a generous man. I do not want him to provide for me because I am an independent adult, not his dependent child. I want to have and manage my own finances, not to have them only at the mercy of another person with the assumption that I'd be shit out of luck if he for some reason couldn't provide (which can happen to everybody due to for example illness).
[–]SayNadFDS Apprentice4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If you read the Handbook provided by FDS, you will see that the definition of men "providing" for women here is that he will pay for everything and take care of you properly, BUT you absolutely have to level up and have your own money, career, everything sorted out and never let yourself be dependent on a man or anybody - because if one time in the future things take turn for the worse, you have no problem just up and leave him.
FDS advocating levelling up yourself first and then when you are ready for the dating scene, find someone who will be glad to splurge and provide for you (we do not believe in 50/50 or "equality") because that's the prove that he is serious - this is a way to repel parasite and leeches who prey on financially independent women.
[–]SayNadFDS Apprentice1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep, being able to provide and splurge on someone they really like is the one thing that makes their ego puff up with pride and joy - it gives them the satisfaction of directly proving their manliness - that's when their brain secretes the feel-good chemicals. I believe women got the similar effect when they take care of someone/nurturing to like babies and kittens.
Men's ego don't get fed when you go all "equality" and 50/50 - only their laziness grows but they don't get long-term satisfaction from that. That's why no matter how much you "sacrifice" and "be equal" with scrotes - they still end up resenting you.
