I never used to care about cheap dates, i liked the idea of romantic dates that didnt require money just good company and beauty of nature but..it means something if cheap dates matter to them. Romantic courting SHOULD matter to them. Miss me with that intentional low effort.

Romantic picnics can be a great date but BYO packed lunch just makes me cringe.

Eugh, I nearly downvoted this on reflex.

The fucked up part is a picnic date could actually be acceptable if he put proper effort into dressing nicely, picking the perfect spot, packing a basket of fine charcuterie and sparkling drink, ect. but we both know he's going to make her prepare the sandwiches and then put them in his highschool lunch box. Maybe you'll get a single bottles water with the plastic all crunched up because it's been rolling around in his fridge for a while. If you're lucky.
