Once had a date walk me to a bus stop and then go to leave before the bus arrived. I told him it was pretty bad manners and he immediately turned it around and said wasn't I worried about him standing around in the cold? Unbelievable really.

The other day my boyfriend came over to help me change a flat, get the spare filled with air when it was also flat, then followed me all the way to the tire place on his motorcycle to make sure I got there ok. The whole ordeal was unexpected and made us cancel our plans. When I apologized to him later he said he was happy to do it and that he had a great day because he got to ride his motorcycle when it was nice out. No screaming, yelling, or resentment. Just unbridled support.

I’m cautiously optimistic about this one.

I was at peak pickme and even I binned a guy who didn’t walk me to my car after our date, he just left quickly. Nope. It’s that “I don’t give a shit about you” energy.

Even men I wouldn't consider high value have made a point of walking me straight to my door or watching me from the end of the street if I ask them to be discreet. It's the bare minimum.

This is so true. All my family members waited until I was in the door before leaving. My exes? Zoomed off or never escorted me to the train station. Men show how much they care for you in the small things they do.

I had a friend who would do this to me! As soon as I stepped out the car she was gone lol! For a long time I thought it was normal behavior but it was out of spite.

I had a woman professor do that to me in one of the most dangerous cities of the Unites States. She dropped me 5mn away from my house because it was not on her way....I was in a dress. She calls herself a feminist. Needless to say she never checked on me (and she has a daughter). She also took a pic of me once without asking for my permission and showed to a guy saying "isn't she pretty". I reported the incident to a guy friend who said it was like a "privacy rape". For once that a guy was able to put the right terms on how I felt.

I am endlessly amazed by the myriad of ways they find to A. not care and B. show us they don't care. Like it takes creativity to devalue someone else in that many different ways. At least it gives us more chances to see the signs and weed them out.

It's a life rule for me to always walk my friends to their car no matter where we are. The same goes with dropping them off at their homes. Just wish they would text promptly that they are safe at home rather then waiting 48hrs. (The anxiety!)

Guy Im seeing now walks me to my door every single time...doesnt matter if its pouring rain, he gets out, makes sure I get to my door and inside before he leaves. And the flip matters too..there is no way in hell I would run out the door for a guy that pulls up and honks for me. Im not a 50s diner where you honk for your server to come to your car..come get me.

This guy who pursued me stranded me on the side of the road in winter. He bought me several drinks then we ended up having sex in his truck (we had been flirting a couple times at a local pub and I was lonely and horny not gonna lie). I regretted it immediately as I really didn’t have feelings for him nor was it good. Anyway, he dropped me off at my car and sped away without waiting to see if I even got in my car. Well my car battery was dead. I tried calling him several times but somehow he didn’t notice his phone ringing. I texted him the situation. Still no response. Next day, no response still. I ended up walking home that night freezing for about half a mile. Not a huge distance but long enough. So many trash men out there ugh. I just gotta say my boyfriend now would never ever do that, and if for some reason it happened that my car broke down or didn’t start and I’d tried to reach him and he didn’t notice, he would feel guilty for days. He would be there in a heartbeat for me in ANY situation at any hour of the day or night. I don’t know who raises these guys and how they end up this way but wow, that’s just fucked up.

Oh my god this is such a thing for me. I live in a sort of sketchy neighborhood and most people who would give me a ride home would a little while after I got into the elevator. I remember thinking they were being a little paranoid but when my ex didnt ever wait, it made me think. I mentioned it to him and he didnt see how it was a big deal. Glad hes my ex now

A high school boyfriend of mine left me alone in an empty movie theater parking lot. He had a car but I didn't. My dad hadn't gotten there to pick me up yet, but my ex said he had to leave to get home before his curfew. Needless to say, he was a LVM in so many other respects as well.

I had a first date where I parked in a secondary lot the restaurant had. He parked just a couple feet from the entrance. When it was time to go there were no more than 2 cars in the lot, it was dark and I could see mine was alone and far away. He asked me where I parked then said okay bye and drove off before I even got to my car. 🚮

Yep this is one of those thing that looks simple and innocuous - but tells you a lot about whether a person have that sense of protectiveness and responsibility towards another. The act of waiting a couple of minutes just to make sure you are inside, door closed and save signal that he cares about you on some level whether as a potential interest, a friend, or just another human being who deserve a lookout.

People who only cares about themselves won't be bothered to do this. Or if they do, they will keep tabs about it.

Women do this because getting to our apartments/into our homes are times where we are vulnerable to harm (muggings/robbery). If he’s driving off he lacks a lot of understanding.
